Hey all,

There is a titan army listed on Ebay that includes 16 Reavers, 8 warhounds, and several warlords (6, I think).  Bidding starts at $325 with a Buy it Now for $399.

I would like several reavers and a couple more warhounds, but I'm not ready to drop 4 bills on a big lot that includes a ton more than I need/want.

Is anyone interested in going in on a bid for it?  Or possibly buying it wholesale and dividing it up?

Hi!

400 dollars?!  ???

No way I'd pay 400 dollars for that, not when there are deals out there where you can get all that AND much more besides for the same money.

Like I said before, ebay is WAY too ludicrous sometimes.

Yeah, that is a rip off. Don't buy it. Be patient and scan the trading boards. I got some major deals on the boards.

He can ask what he wants for that auction but notice no bids. I would not be shocked if it closes with no bids or maybe just the min. bid.

Some people just ask too much or make auctions that are just too big. Makes it hard for the "normal" people to get a win in edgewise.

I am watching this one though just to see what happens :-)

I agree it's a lot of money.  However, the going price on EBay for Reaver titans in small lots seems to be $12-15 or more.  Warhounds are more in the $8-10 range.  Given that, I didn't think the price was completely unreasonable, just a bit on the optimistic side.

For the record, I've seen other auctiosn from this same guy that did not get a bid.  He/she generally relists the lot with the "buy it now" price where the minimum bid was, and a lower minimum bid.

If that happens, I'd still like to know if anyone is interested in splitting it up.

Hi!

Its true that things on e-bay tend to go for roughly what they were worth at retail when they were available. Still though, at the end of the day, the prices given on e-bay, on average tend to be a wee bit high.

I agree that probably that particular auction will end with no bids.

I have seen this auction too, and have to admit (as a regular ebayer) that its way to high and there are better deals out there like Primarch said. You just have to wait and watch for stuff.

I will have to say, that there is a lot of Epic stuff on E-bay, regardless of the price.  Much of it is OOP too.  "Let the buyer beware. ", but it's always worth a look ...

Hi!

There are definately good deals when you look out for them. I picked up several of the newer great gargants for about 15 dollars each (retail price 30 dollars), so there are good deals to be had, but once you start see OOP models things due get out of hand.

Also beware of last minute snipeing, very common practixe. Some auction "seem" to be ignored, but are carefully watched for last minute snipeing.

Someone can only "snipe" you if you have not put your maxamum bid. Otherwise they just out bid you. What I see is often a person puts a low bid (less then they would pay), then does not get the auction, then they say "I would have paid...". Well then bid that amount in the first place.

I put this at the bottom of my auctions:

-----------------------------------------------------------
Another seller had this wise council and so I quote him:

ATTENTION EBAY NEWCOMERS: Place your max bid as high as you are willing to pay for this item if you really want it. Many bidders wait until the last hour (or minutes/seconds) to take the auction. Don't assume you will have this item because you have been the high bidder during most of the auction.

That is exactly, how it is and should be done. If you don't put down the absolute maximum you are willing to spend in the first place, then you have no business whining about it after you lose. It will not always wind up at the top. I get qutie alot of really cheap deals on e-bay. There are many people who'll ambush you at the last minute. Hell, I do that.  }:)  The thing is to decide what the item is worth to you and leave it at that.  :p

I agree with Signius and Dafrca, if someone outbids you at the last minute and you feel aggrieved, then you obviously haven't bid your maximum.

For example, you see a CI for auction.

The opening bid is $5, you bid $6, don't be surprised if at the last minute someone bids ?7 and wins the bid, especially if you were willing to bid $20.

The better course of action would be: opening bid is $5, you bid $20 - your actual bid will be $6 - when the sniper bids $7 at the last minute you will automatically counter with an $8 bid and win the auction... of course if they snipe early and take the bidding over $20 then you haven't lost out as you weren't willing to pay more than $20 anyhow!

Bid the maximum amount you are willing to pay and then you can ignore the auction until it is over. You will also avoid the "temptation" to pay over the odds at the last minute, if you lose the auction, you haven't lost as the final price was over the maximum amount you were willing to pay.

However I know some people who like the "thrill" of the bid race and therefore prefer to bid and bid rather than take the sensible option.

???

For the record, the titan lot went for more than the minimum bid.  Also, a single reaver I was watching with a mediocre paint job (I would probably have stripped it) went for more than $20.

I swear this seems to be the standard for not just eBay, but in other places that deal with used figs.  However, the overwhelming reaction was that the price on that lot was outrageous.  I understand that there is always the chance of an auction coming in low, but it is a rare exception.

Where have you guys found Reavers for less than $15-20 each or Warhounds for less than $8-12 each?

Neil,

There are deals on ebay, I bought a lot on ebay that had an Imperiator, 3 Reavers, and two Warhounds for $25 plus shipping.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....0904351

As for the Titan Army, it went for the minimum bid. Opening bid was $325 and it closed at $325. Check it out:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....ry=7389

I would not be shocked to see many of those back up as single titan auctions soon.

Yes, the Reaver went for $20 but the Vampire Raider went for less then $7 and that is a $13 mini unpainted. There was also an auction with 4 Ork Blisters at a starting bid of $2 each and it did not sell.

The deals are there, you just have to look often to "catch" them.

Hi!

Sniping is a common and much loathed practice on e-bay, but in the end your best protection, as others have mentioned, is to place the maximum you are willing to pay for as your initial bid. I realize that much of it is "psychological", since if your maximum bid is 20 dollars and sniping gets it for 20.50 you think "I should have bid 21 dollars, darn". I would say dont feel bad for this, if 20 is what your willing to pay then 20.01 is .01 to much. Thats how I look at it and thats why sniping doesn't bother me.
