Well well, unlike me to have a scoop (or even post in rumours, but there
you go)

I have in front of me the trade notification from GW concerning 4th
edition. I wont post it in its entirety, but here are the main points:

* As already posted, the core strategy in the revised rules is that all
current codexes and models will remain compatible with the new rules
* The rules will come out as a stand alone book - a normal and deluxe
version (no details)
* The introductory boxed set will be based on "The Battle for Macragge"
* It will include (obviously) Marines and Tyranids
* All the box set figures can be assembled without glue in under 30
minutes (confirming the "starter" mini rumour)
* As already posted, the terrain piece is the very nice crashed shuttle
*The rule set in the box set is smaller than the stand alone product,
without all the colour hobby pages.

That?s it! Better post this before I'm beaten to the punch...

Might as well just buy I-Kores new terrain, they won't give you unneccesary models with it, and theres is still all plastic.

Would be ideal for a game of necro....

I have seen those pics. Gimme a pair of days (and a better computer that doesn't crash on a 10 minute basis...) and I will find them :;): It is certainly a good scenery. IIRC it is a crashed marauder, with several pieces of terrain featuring different parts of the plane.

Regards,

Xavi

Clip together models eh....? Can't say I like that idea much.. ?:L

Hell, the crashed shuttle bits look great though, and it can't be too long before FW comes out with a complete one... and maybe an Epic version too..  :;):

Yeah, I guess, but after the 3rd Edition boxed set with the fantastic multi-part marines, this seems an odd step backwards.... heh, guess it's easier for the 10yr old newbies tho...  :;):  *rolls eyes*

I have to agree with you Storm, they are going for the kids, again.  They have done this before, since I'm not a 40K fan, I really don't care, I'm only interested in the terrain, anyway.  And e-mail me about our Titan parts deal.  :;):  Thanks ! :D

Per the local GW guys (who do a fair bit of rumor mongering, so take it with a small grain of salt):

The price tag is expected to be $40 in the US, same as the LotR stuff.  It will have $40 in figs, plus the rulebook and terrain and is intended to be a loss leader.

The book in the box will be trimmed down to rules only.  The outside book will include a lot of fluff and modelling stuff for the people who want that.

Outside of that (none of which contradicts), it sounds spot on to what they have been saying.

Only to remind you that "$40 worth in minis" is quite relative. If it is OUR price worth of the minis they will still be making a profit there since they give us quite a big chunk in extra value (profit for them) when we pay for them, as any company worth its name does. So, their profit might be low considering the extra stuff they throw into the box, but I don't expect it to be a sinker for them at all.

Only a side note, I know, but I thought it was worth making it

Health and a lot of sixes,

Xavi

Yeah, "$40 worth of minis" means "$40 retail price worth of minis."

The RotK boxes, for example, run $40 and contain the Men of Minas Tirith and Mordor Orks, each a $20 set separately.
