Agreed Steve - and Richard needs to "be nice" to Stephan on his first UK tourney, and then there is my match up with Tim - - - -

Basically the whole draw "smacks of incompetence" - the CLWC motto - so Florian, Alan and I should feel right at home :D

Maybe Stephan's a lost cousin, with us sharing the same last name! Haha
(I am actually spelled the same, adapted an international friendly spelling when i moved to England)

Oh, the Florian - that we do not speak about - that's you ! :)

I must say I'm still under shock seeing the lists you play. I thought one or two might play lists like these - and with my luck, I would play against them - but that this is "standard" leaves me ....

Anyway that will give me a lot of time to watch others play.

That's certainly a very different take on a space marine list! Good to see someone try something completely different :) I've certainly never seen that many whirlwinds in a list for starters! Not sure that a unit of them makes for the best of BTS' though... Generally you're best with something like a pimped tactical, terminator, or devastator squad for numbers and durability.

I had written a more detailed answer, but realized it would be seen as a rant - that's better left for "face to face". So I just say, that it is not a major problem with lists we play. It is a problem with the kind of lists you play and our game will be over by the end of turn 2 - neither expecting freak dice rolls nor incompetence.

That's ok, I just hope that there will be "all-round" lists at the bottom.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Well I don't know about everyone else, but I won't want to face your army Brumbaer.

Although to be fair I'd say you are facing to start off one of the armies that I won't want to play in your shoes.

One thing i'd suggest taking a look at some point is this: http://epic-uk.co.uk/ukepicachampionship/index.php All the Epic UK tournaments have the lists uploaded after the event, so it's a pretty good resource to see what kind of builds are taken on average to Epic tournaments for various armies.

Happy to discuss lists and suchlike on Sunday :) It's very much a personal preference kind of thing afterall, and more than anything really does depend on your playstyle i think.

Why would you ?

It is what you used to.

There is no objective right or wrong, but a lot of subjective right and wrongs.

Richard is right, it's a question of style and best discussed face to face, with the full set of facial, tonal and body language feedback.

I'll be in Leicester on Saturday, so if anybody else is early we could discuss it over dinner, if you'd like.

I think it's probably a clash of different metagames, I know here in the EpicUK scene we tend to play a game very heavily focused on engagements, from looking at your list Brumbaer, I get the impression (and of course I could be wrong!) that your group focuses more on shooting?

I think there may be some interesting matchups for your list and you may be more successful with it than you expect...

I'm very interested to discuss in person, unfortunately Saturday I have my son all day while my wife is at work, I may head to the venue to set up, although it depends on timing as they'll be clearing up after a big Magic:The Gathering release event and I have to maintain the routine for my son or he'll be a handful for my wife all day Sunday!

I hope we'll have time to discuss over lunch on the Sunday, I hope that everyone enjoys the event and I'm looking forwards to seeing you all and meeting both of our newcomers :)
