Hi mates !
First of all, i've to apologise and warn you.
I'm
a French player, member of the
Epic-fr forum, and my english is a little bit rusty and not as good as i wish.
I'm a
42 years old Geek, painting and playing with minis since more than 25 years.
Nevertheless, i only fell in love with Epic Armageddon and the 6mm size 3 years ago after a cool playing demo with
Geyser, an awesome painter and good friend of mine.
After some reflexion, i've decided to start and collect miniatures to create a
Krieg Army.
I amassed enough minis to align more than 8 000 PA on a gaming table, while varying pleasure and combinations: full infantry, full tanks, mixed, offensive, defensive, even supported by the aviation and Titans.
But i don't to see too big and i'll try to reach 3000 PA full paint and playable by the end of this year, because my spare time is extremely reduced !
I thought a lot about its look and its composition and decided to use FoW bases and a turquoise blue paint sheme to acheve the aim of giving it a French WWI "Great War" army look and feel.
I often read your posts but i haven't posted myself on this board (because writing in english is not so easy for me).
But it's time to share with you my work ! This army is my
2014 hobby project and i guess you to discover the step by step work on this huge Krieg Army !
I also guess you to take a look at my website
Figouz.net, you'll find
HD photos of this project.
I hope you'll like it and share with me some comments and critics.20 JANUARY : SORTING AND PREPARING THE ARMY ! ###########################################Preparing the army : A lot of infantry, tanks, artillery, aviation and titans !

05 FEBRUARY : BEGINNING OF THE HUGE WORK ON MY INFANTRY STANDS ! ###########################################First skid! I leave completely my first objective and I decide to work first on my entire infantry: 81 bases of 5 man each, to decorate with sceneries, to coat, to add textures them with 3 varietes of sand and to undercoat them even before the hairs of my brushes cannot caress the first soldier!
Within 3 weeks, about 400 small things of 6mm were cut, filed and stuck.
Many small elements of sceneries were added to bases and I have just ended the loooooooooooooong, laborious and boring phase of filling the stands between each mini.
Still remains to add the fine sand and to stick mini rocks to add more textures to these bases.

07 february: Filler, filler, filler.. ###########################################Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargl !
09 FEBRUARY : TEXTURING THE BASES ! ###########################################

15 february: Texturing again and again ! ###########################################
For those whom that interests, here is how I proceed to give a beautiful texture to my stands :
1. I put points of wood glue (diluted) in the places which are going to receive masses of fallen rocks and cliffs: foot of ruins, metal stalks and in some places on stands.
2. I place my small cliffs carefully chosen for their size and their shape with a crowbar in the glued places
3. I sprinkle with fine but rather unrefined sand the glued portions what has the effect of melting cliffs and ruins with the stands and of feigning finer rubbles.
4. I let dry little
5. I put some wood glue on places remained bare of the stands
6. I sprinkle with very fine sand and I let dry one night
15 FEBRUARY : VICTORY ! ###########################################After a long and hard work, it's time for undercoating my 81 infantry stands and to take good photos to celebrate that big step !

15 FEBRUARY : LET'S GO FOR THE FIRST TESTS OF COLORS ! ###########################################After weeks of work on my infantry stands, i've finally start to paint ! ^^
The objective being to have a tint of stands on which my troops stands out well.
After numerous attempts, I finally found adequate colors and the successive stages of painting. Here is what that gives onto my supreme commander stand and 8 of my Centaurs.

03 MARCH : PAINTING THE FIRST BATCH OF BASES ! ###########################################The whole process is now ok so i've launched the mass painting !
16 MARCH : PHOTOS SESSION OF MY FIRSTS 48 PAINTED BASES ! ###########################################To the menu of this first bakery of 48 stands :
1. My HQ company
2. Grenadiers squad + 8 Centaurs
3. My company of Death Riders
4. Death Riders Scouts squad
I returned on my tints repeatedly by adding juices of burned red earth, black and dark brown to highlight well ruins and pebbles and add a little of heat and variety to tints. Bleached Bone and white were then brushed on the most pronounced arrest.
Ruins were all worked again with juices of ochre and brown to give them a warmer tint and marking details.
Here are the stages of their painting:
Black base
First dry brushing in Bestial Brown by leaving the bottom of the ruin in black
Second dry brushing in Bleached Bone by leaving half of the ruin and by raising
Last dry brushing in white on arrest and the height of the ruins
Juice put with fine paintbrush in hollows ( Bestial Brown)
Glacis with very light of ochre and green to colour the flat surfaces
Same treatment apply in stony blocks collapsed at feet of ruins.

06 APRIL : LET'S TRY TO PAINT INFANTRY ! ###########################################I've attacked the painting of the infantry and I indeed have to admit that I dreaded this moment for some weeks. These 6 mm minis are really tiny and I did not too much know how to approach this stage, so much in techniques to be applied, the choice of colours, the contrasts, the level of details.
I use
Color Scheme Designer to select correctly the colours of my plans. And once more, it is via this chromatic wheel that I chose colours set in my turquoise. But I'm still not convinced by helmets and armors in yellow ochre. The objective on figurines so small being not to multiply too much colours to keep a good legibility.
Here is a photo of my very first ended stand :

And to give you a more nice idea of what this army will look like, here is two photos gathering my HQ company HQ and my first Grenadiers Squad :

That's all for the moment ! Comments are welcome
