@Wasteland - do you need to know which style of extra building we want through the pledge calculator or are you just getting ball park figures now?

Right now I'm only tracking the number of buildings - after the campaign finishes I'll send out surveys so backers can specify which patterns they want for their buildings.

By the way, where did you have your stuff printed, and also, what material did you use?

They're printed through Shapeways in Frosted Ultra Detail. Each part does require a fair bit of cleanup before it's ready to be molded and cast, though.

I've tried printing a few other types of models using Shapeways but the buildings are the first things that have turned out well enough to use. I think the flat walls that curve very little in the z-axis make for better prints. I had tried printing some epic-scale tanks I designed but they didn't quite turn out. I know a guy who has done some really stunning sculpts through Moddler so I may give them a try if I do anything more intricate in the future. It is more expensive so I haven't tried their products myself yet.

Great stuff Chris !

I'm in for an outpost (and maybe more if i get excited before next week ! :)

I'd like a couple of the small add-ons but the $14 min postage is a bit of a killer unless i basically double my pledge. I guess 14$ the min standard international parcel?

Thanks!

Yeah, I'm afraid that's about the lower limit for worldwide coverage. Sending things surface would be a bit cheaper, but I consider the length of time it takes and the number of shipments that never seem to reach their destination to be unacceptably high.

Just a quick reminder for anyone else interested:
Today is the last day of the Kickstarter campaign! Thanks so much to those who have backed, and for those still thinking about it, I hope to see you there!

Don't forget that the KS is in Canadian dollars which means the exchange rate is better for the pound than if it was US dollars.

Yep, well done chris. Looking forward to this. Like the way you kept it simple and effective when the temptation might have been to start coming up with all sorts of ideas under pressure.

Thanks, everyone!

I haven't posted in a few days since I've been rather busy (as you might imagine...) but as soon as I'm a little farther along and have something cool to show, I'll post it here.

Cheers,
-Chris

I don't know if you've been following the battle systems kickstarter but they've been very strict about releasing monthly updates since being funded. Even if it's just "Sorry guys, not much to say this month, been really busy with the boring stuff". If nothing else it gives you a bit more wiggle room if (when?) deadlines start to slide a bit...

A good idea, but I'm hoping to go a lot shorter than a month between having something worthwhile to show. Other, larger Kickstarter projects typically involve production in another country (usually China) so producers often don't have too much to show off while they wait for the factory, the boat, the shipping container, etc.
Since I'm doing this all myself, I'll be able to show every step of the process.

Here's some photos from the first production update that went up yesterday:
