Ditto on the good pics. That's essential for the ebay market. If you have Aeronautica Imperialis bases, be sure they're pictured prominently and mentioned in the description. It's a tell-tale mark that you're not selling recasts.

I'd be interested in the Valkyries, Thunderbolts, and Lightnings. But you'll make much more money on ebay IMO.

Hi!

From what I have seen the epic resin Forgeworld seems to go for a lot. Which is kind of odd since its resin versus metal.

They only metal that seems to go quickly and for good prices in the last metal stuff made under Armageddon.

Of course, unpainted goes for more than unpainted, so that they are painted may hurt the final price.

I have been after FW Vultures. Either one or both packs. What are you after?
Possibly interested in the FW Thunderbolts too.

Cheers

James

Thanks for all the replies and PMs :) muchly appreciated.

Since I've a bit of history here, I'll offer things up here on the forums to start with (new topic incoming for those that see this before I do!)

I'll start off with the (mostly) untouched forgeworld packs in a new thread. I shall also add a few other bits and pieces to that too.

With the tau, I'd be looking to get a MINIMUM of £300 for the lot plus postage (or collection if your near the centre of the known universe... the midlands, UK)

For those interested in the tau, I'll list the bits hear to start with so you can get an idea... I am intregued by the open bidding though.

Stealth Suits: 10 Bases
Pathfinders: 6 Bases
Firewarriors: 16 Bases
Devilfish: 13
Hammerheads: 3 Ion Cannon, 3 Railgun
Skyray: 3
Tigershark: 2
Barracuda: 2
Orca: 1
Manta: 1

There is also a conversion of an orca to... Moray? Stringray?... well whatever was the forums tau creation that was based on an orca and shot several thousand missiles :)

There's a handful (18 Bases + 10 turrets) of forumware bits along side this as well.

THE FOLLOWING ARE OLD PICTURES - NOT EVERYTHING IN THEM IS WHAT IS LISTED HERE HOWEVER IT WILL GIVE AN IDEA TO PAINTING ETC - NEW PICTURES WILL FOLLOW (my camera died)

LINK TO PICTURES:

The change to what is listed and the pictures is that the crisis suits and broadsides were replaced. I think the rest is pretty much as seen.

Regarding the tau, at the start of April (when I've a bit more time to sort photos of everything out) I will begin an open bidding for the lot. The whole army will be shipped as one as this makes life easier with postage and packing for me (it will come in it's own foam filled KR card case) and I'd rather see the army stick together than going piecemeal.

I am planning on starting this at £300 (+ postage etc) with increments of (multiples of) £5 being counted (to make sure no one is that person and tries to out bid by 1p ;) ). The auction will last for approximately one month to enable visibility.

I hope that seems transparent and fair :)

With respect, I think ebay is much better suited for this, buyers can proxy bid and not need to watch the auction every 5 minutes and it's all covered with guarantees to keep both buyer and seller safe, which given the high asking price is a good idea...

if you're using ebay prices as a guideline, I think it's fairer to everyone to list stuff on ebay, the rules for trading section on this forum are very open-ended, but I'm pretty sure it's mostly intended for people to be able to search out stuff they need to complete armies without having to wade through ebay and pay very high BIN prices, rather than for people to list rare/OOP stuff and make a large profit while avoiding ebay fees

I think the general consensus here over the years has been if you want to make as much money as possible on an item, list it on ebay, if you want to offer it to the people here, to keep it within the community at a fair price, list it here, after all there is a whole other section on the forum to share ebay/other trade site links....

this is my opinion and you are welcome to ignore it, I wish you well with your endeavours either way

The reason for selling here is that I've a history here and want to help the community, especially with models no longer available.

This army was built up during the very first testing of the tau lists back when specialist games were running the development and when Jimmygrill (I think) was army champion. Consequently it'd be nice to keep it in the community that bore it.

I'm well aware I could make more on ebay, especially splitting it, however I'd rather see lot go to someone who'll use it not resell it. Why an auction here? Actually it was suggested by someone here, it also gives people a chance to see it and not just get snapped up by the first person.

Regarding the pricing, eBay has been used as a guide for the other stuff I've got up, but mostly at 50-75% of eBay prices. Vultures went for something like £60 on ebay recently, not the £30 I was asking. Other prices I've had a bit of a guess on and have been quite open to offers.

And regarding the tau, from what I remember of the packing and pricing at Forgeworld this lot is worth over £300 originally... so er yes... It may sound a lot. It's really not considering its all out of print...

sure, if you always take the highest prices on ebay as reference, your offer might seem cheap. I've seen some Vultures NiB go for 28 € on ebay recently, that's why I took 20 € here for mine. ;)
