Again, very nice effect!
They have a perfectly grim engines of war look to them! :)

This was supposed to be an hour job, ended up taking all day after I decided to put a bit too much effort into the banner...

Sweet. That is what I am doing with my titans. Did you drill holes into all of the titan weapons and drop the magnets in so the surface is flush?

Hi!

I ordered some very small magnet to fit in those holes, as well as a drill bit. This is exactly what I wish to accomplish.

Looks good!

Hi!

Looks like smaller magnets really open up a lot of possibilities. :)

Another thing i am looking into now, is using magnets for the flyer stands. Those things are a dreadful pain to use.

The magnet on the flier is easy. What to do with the stand and fixing a magnet there is trickier, but doable.

Pretty much, though I doubt an engineer would call it perfectly flush! I also had to drill out all the mount points, they measure 2.5mm but I could only find cheap magnets in 3mm. You have to brace the outside of the arm mount point as it's prone to splitting when you drill it out.

I wouldn't try and mount a magnet on the end of a flight stand, it's too small. Instead I'd just get a really small pin (with the widest flattest metal head possible and try to push it down the centre of the flight stand, getting a metal cap on the stand. This would give the magnet in the flyer something to stick to.

The 1/10 of inch magnets I got here:

Would actually be close 2.5 mm (2.54 to be exact). I ordered these, since I figured 3mm would be too big and cause the problem you mention.

Question is, how easy to get a pin that small that's magnetized? I quickly realized not everything that looks like metal may actually 'stick" to a magnet. If you know of an obtainable one that would be good. :)

I also thought of putting a metal "cap" on the tip. They are easily done with the sheet metal I bought to make the contacts on my first attempt in the pictures. I can take one of those metal discs and "cap" the tip to get the same effect as well.

I magnetized flyers in 15mm scale though. Drilled a hole into the mini and glued the magnet. Then I just used a GW plastic flight stand rod which I cutted a bit to take off the thinner part. then the rod was exactly the widht of the magnet and I glued another one on top of it.

The hole in the mini was deep enough to fit the magnet part of the plastic rod inside the model. That way the mini did not fall of if I moved it.

Hi!

The true-scale FW aircraft would probably be easy with the larger magnets I got first. The flying stand is larger on those. For the original smaller scaled ones I think the smaller ones used for the titan weapons will suffice.

The problem is the original stands are made from some fairly brittle clear plastic, that chips easily. It is also very thin at the top. I have gotten a 1mm sized drill, but even this may be too big. Thus the "cap" idea. I thing I can make a fairly small cap that will sheathe the uppermost part for the magnet contact. Since it is under the aircraft it can't be seen during play.

Of course the other option is to ditch that flying stand and get some different metal rods (they come in all sizes and finishes) and use that and I don't need to use magnets as the metal will be enough.

I'll give the cap idea a whirl and report it here then I'll decide if it has merit or another alternative is needed.

Once I try the smaller magnets on the plastic warlord, I have a metal reaver I will test on next (and report that one as well). If those two go well. I do them all. :)

For my Reavers I just cut off the mounting peg and glued a magnet in its place, then drilled out the mounting holes and dropped a magnet in there. Made sure the hole was deeper so it could receive the magnet on the weapon as well.
Just not decided if I want to carry on down that route as having the magnets flush on the weapons does make those ones with two mounting points look cleaner, but with my way of just sticking the magnet onto the weapon means it still sort of acts like a peg as well when mounted on the titan, so would be a little more secure.
Hmm, what to do, decisions, decisions.

Well it's been a long time since I did anything in 6mm, but I've just completed a few minis so I'll put them up here. I should also be working on some more 6mm next.

And because I noticed something whilst painting them, here's a group shot of the Rhinos, reenacting the film The Italian Job:

Battlecannon arm is two Paladin battlecannons spliced together. Lance arm is taken from the recent Troublemaker War Stalkers.
