Twenty players will battle it out over ten 6x4 tables for victory, bragging rights and prizes to boot! The event will be held at The Whipton Institute Social Club, Whipton Village Road, Whipton Exeter, Devon. EX4 6AW.

Please note that this is not an event put on by one of the Exeter clubs (i.e Exeter Inquisition or Rygas Roughnecks) but independently set up and run by me - brokenbayonet, so please direct all queries & correspondence here (or PM me) and not swamp those club forums with questions :0)

Fantastic prizes are up for grabs, courtesy of prize sponsors: Hawk Wargames, Onslaught Miniatures,
Dark Realm Miniatures and Microworld Games

Feast your eyes on these Confirmed Prizes...Wish I was entering :0(

Further details of the prizes can be found on the ticket site.

Tickets are £14 each, this includes lunch on the day from the local Chip shop – The Fryer Tuck.

Each of the themed 6x4 boards will feature (as the name suggests) themed trench battlefields. While each one will look unique, all will feature the following terrain items: trenches, razor wire, craters, and bunkers. 3 of the 6'x4' boards have been custom made (Ice World, Primeval World and Scorched Earth/Death World).
Please check this thread and ticket website for details of the table layout.

Important Things To Remember:
1) Army list submission (Epic UK army lists only) deadline is Sunday 6th July. No late entries please! (midnight)
2) Miniatures should all be suitably based and painted (at least 4 colours) as standard.
In the event that one or both conditions are not met, tournament points may be deducted as a result. Sorry :0(

Looks good Tim, will set about securing the relevant clearance....!

Sure some if the other locals will be up for it too.

How close is the venue to the train station? (Is it St David's? Been a while since I was down that way)

Cheers
Reedar

Ticket number two was mine. :)

It's about two and a half miles from St. David's, but I suspect lifts can be arranged. There's also Polsloe Bridge Station if you change at St. David's or Exeter Central, that's half a mile/ten minute walk from the Social Institute.

Hi Reedar,

Would be great if you could come down. Great prizes up for grabs. These have now been confirmed on the ticket site.

As IJW Wargaming Trader Ian says, its just on the outskirts of Exeter City centre. So changing trains at St Davids station and getting on one that goes to Polsloe Bridge is one way of doing it. However, if you don't fancy waiting in the station for another train you can get the bus (this will involve two changes though)

Bus:
Bus from St Davids: If you're coming from St Davids, you can get a bus from the station into the city centre, not sure which ones/numbers yet though, but its not far from the train station at all (just up a hill). Once you're in the high street itself get on a bus bound for Pinhoe. . Get on the K, T or J Stagecoach City bus' and ask for 'Whipton shops'. From here check out the directions given by the Rygas Roughnecks site:
http://rygasroughnecks.com/?page_id=17

Car
If you're able to get a lift and for those of you driving down. Again, please check out the directions in the link above. There will be at least twelve car parking spaces available after we've set up etc. First come first serve.

Taxi
As link above, but the expensive method...boo!

Bllip, would be great if you could make it down too. The more the merrier :0)

As a footnote, three tickets have already been sold :0) I'll put up the three confirmed entrants at the top of this thread and add them as they come in.

Tim

Good stuff!

You'll also be able to save a few points (of your 3k)by not having to buy extra razor wire or fortifications for your siege guys. You're more than welcome to, but believe me there will be plenty of the above already on the tables. The 'no man land' section should be interesting though :0)

Many thanks Chris. You've been added to the list above.

Footnote regarding terrain on the day: Whilst there will be broken lines of trenches, fortifications aplenty within 6 inches/5.2cm of your table edge. It's not just the armies with loads of 'big guns' dug in within the trenches that will hold sway during the day. P.s Trenches will offer Infantry 4+ cover save, Dangeous Terrain for vehicles and no effect to war engines. Fortifications/Bunkers will offer 3+ cover saves for infantry, dangerous terrain for vehicles and impassible for war engines.

I'm sure you'll all have fun working out which Titans, walkers, troop drop ships, drop-pods, skimmers, vehicles etc you'll want to choose to grab the objectives on the other side of the board and in the barren - 'No Mans Land'. This will be dotted with razor wire stretching across parts of the battlefield (dangerous terrain for infantry with no effect on vehicles or war engines, craters (4+cover save for infantry, dangerous terrain for vehicles, no effect on war engines), and bits and bobs of terrain depending on which home world the table will be (each table will represent a different world with themed scenery accordingly).

It's worth mentioning because it's not 100% clear on the map, the entrenchments are NOT in the 15cm deployment zones! So buying fortifications for siege armies will still be well worth the points...

Absolutely right on both counts. I'll amend the original layout description (and soon change map) to:

Entrenchments/bunkers/fortifications will be within the 15cm deployment zone (of each table edge).
Razor wire sections will fall outside the 15cm deployment zone (anywhere within the 3ft No Mans land)

Many thanks Mr Gonzo. It's certainly a learning curve putting all this together. There is actually now a fourth sponsor on board... :) Will announce this within next couple of days. The overall prize pool will be awesome!

Will be great if you can make it down for this.

Many thanks MOK. Added your name to the confirmed list above.

Really pleased to announce fourth Sponsor: Microworld Games :0). Added to first post above.

They've kindly agreed to offer: $60 of credit for 'Best Painted Army' & $25 of credit for 'Most Sporting Player'. Fantastic stuff!
