So, I decided to make up some Noise Marines to take with my Red Corsairs. I've got a ton of the regular infantry stands lying about, so I decided to convert a bunch of them with teeny guitars. It's going to be a lot of trimming strip styrene, but it'll hopefully look really cool in the end.

Here's a close-up pic of the first couple:

and a shot from "table" distance:

To stay in the mood, I'm listening to an 80's internet radio station...lots of Queen, Journey, Styx, etc.

Not sure what color(s) to go with on the guitars, when I paint them up tomorrow. Open for input :)

12 stands finished. The white on grey is a little hard to see in the light to see the guitars, but I decided to go opposite ways on the two different color (flavor, however you want to put it) marine models. There are three marines with guitars to a stand. I'll get these at least primed at the weekly painting get-together...if I can work fast, I might get some pink on them, and some sweet guitars painted up.

Wow great idea with the guitars! Must have been fiddly work but good use of the spare marines, nice work!

I really have to admit, your Nightlords simply kick-ass. How can u keep your hand steady enough to modify the helmets that way - admirable...

Aw, thank you, gentlemen!

Nachthall, I used tweezers and a quick spray of zip kicker...the hardest part was cutting all the wings for the helmets, and getting the small notches in them, which I did out of the same width strip styrene as the guitars.

Concerning the notches I totally understand what you mean. When I tried to cut those into my Silvertower conversions I made some months ago(?) it made me crazy, even though I had the living demonic metal theme covering the imprecise work I did. It´s really difficult, so: all my respect dedicated to such a precise job ;)
You were not using a special knife therefore, did you?

So I got to work getting these guys painted...I need them for a 6k game on Saturday that's part of a bigger campaign. Base coated black, then hit the guitars with a coat of white. Decided on a group of 4 bright colors (to put the electric in electric guitar) to make for a variety, rather than just everyone have the same guitar.

Image

You'll notice I left a few white. Well, I'm planning on doing one "cool" guitar per stand. Somethin that will stand out a bit.

For example, Van Halen's "Frankenstrat"
Image

a (blurry) american flag guitar
Image

the white target guitar from The Who
Image

and the (blurry) Union Jack (my camera just wouldn't focus)
Image

BUT I NEED YOUR HELP

I've run out of cool guitars...I plan on doing Lucille (B.B. King's guitar), and I plan on attempting the classic ombre look of a gibson, and I'm stuck after that.

Nice work, Ruth! Too late to do a double-neck a la Jimmie Page?

yes and no...i won't be able to have one done in time for saturday, but i'm looking into doing one for sure! I'll either pry an old one off, or just pop a guy off of the base and glue "Jimmie" on.

Fair enough. How about painting one to look like Gene Simmons' axe bass?
