At my workplace we often have tensions around queueing, mostly because not all cultures attach such importance to it and the people who work here are very international. When you think about it, why should you always decide who goes first according to who turned up first? There are other possible methods, including many that are proxy for the same thing (i.e. if you want it most you will make the effort to turn up first).

Over here, I think its more of a generational thing. Its almost exactly that anyone 40 or under will queue, while over this age and they just wont. And, while people will wait patiently - especially in the rush hour when things get extremely busy - no-one says a word when a 60-year-old just walks right past them and stands in everyones way.

And, while we are excising the bile, why... why... WHY dont people take their bags off their shoulders in packed underground trains??? Haaaaa.... thats better!

It's those trolley bags that really drive me bonkers! People seem to drag them along with no spacial awareness, cutting right across your path and forcing you to stop at the drop of a hat.
Someone should create a time machine to back and deliver to the inventor of that "innovation" what Dr Silberman described as a "retroactive abortion" (not as horrid as it may initially sound).
