I've painted up an Ork settlement using Battlescene Designs and Angel Barracks buidlings.

Sadly the pics are too big to post here, so unfortunately I have to post the fb link for the album instead.

I know this is poor form and will reset my camera to make sure future pics are small enough to be posted here. Sorry to all for the inconvenience. :-\

Nice settlement! Only thing I'd suggest is to cut up some thin plasticard into various ork glyphs to break up the uniformity. That's what I love about Orksies is you pretty much cannot "do it wrong" :)

I bought some transfers to do just that, but unlike most 4 year olds in the world I cannot fathom out how to use 'em. I seem to recall you put them face down & scribble on the back with a pen?

How humiliating asking such a question...

Float them off on a bit of water. Cut out roughly around the transfer on its paper, then pop it (face up) on a saucer of water. After 10–40 seconds or so the backing paper and the transfer should separate, and you can slide the transfer (careful, easy to fold them over or tear them in some cases, use a clean paintbrush or tweezers) off the paper and onto your model.

(edit: unless you do have rub-down transfers, but that is unlikely for miniature uses these days!)

Do invest in some Microsol and Microset as well. Get yourself a pair of good locking tweasers as well, mate. It'll save your hand from cramps.

Few suggestions:
-use slightly warm water
-always place decals in the water decal down. They have a propensity to curl otherwise
-decals go best onto gloss varnished surface. paint on a layer where you're going to put them on the day before
-put microset onto surface (it softens the decal allowing it to conform the surface), slide decal off with wet brush onto surface and position and let it sit
-use a moistened q-tip once set a bit to make sure it is flush and without bubbles
-use microsol to "bind" the decal into the surface until it appears to be painted on.

Gah! This sounds much trickier than I had thought/hoped! Thanks for the tips, I'd have never worked out how to use them - much appreciated chaps! :)

It sounds more complex than it is. Give it a whirl.

Space orcs are looking great.

I have been using photobucket to upload photos here as it has an auto re-size function that re-sizes them. I'm sure that breaks all kind of forum etiquette but Ive had no complaints so far!

Yep, Psyphers' (aka Battlescene Designs) buildings with Angel Barracks Junker Dome.
