Thanks to everyone today for another excellent and fun event, special thanks to Steve and Mephiston for organising, reffing and running, dreamlike games for hosting, and to Tom C, Jon and MikeT for three enjoyable games

I managed a solid 3-0 win on turn 3 in game one against Tom, which momentarily put me in the lead before two farly close 2-1 losses against Jon and MikeT left me finishing in 8th place, and I walked away with judges choice best painted which I am very proud of, particular highlights for me were the massive one-two engagement on Jon's stupidly big BTS, breaking it and then a single thawk surviving on 1DC to give me a chance of destroying the ork mob....I was up by 2, then rolled a pair of 2's for resolution....jon rolled his one at a time.....a 1 followed by.....a 3! And the orks lost BTS and a massive wedge of buggies and skorchas.....a 700 point formation at a price of 2 dead thawks and 8 stands of termies..... totally worth it!

Then against mike, him rolling snake eyes followed by a 6 invulnerable save for BOTH terminator chaplains in successive attacks....and both my terminator formations unable to kill a warhound..... excellent day, now my sickness grows strong and I wait to see if I survive the night *cough*

Kyuss was really unlucky in our just-about-mirror match; for comparison my 2 terminator-thunderhawks wiped out a Predator formation and broke his BTS Devastators, removing his only ground based AA and leaving them as an easy target for Thunderbolts. That kinda set the mood for the rest of the match.

My match against RichardL's guard dragged out to a fifth turn which culminated with Richard surrounding my Blitz-protecting BTS devastator formation with an untouched Reg HQ then assaulting with a warhound, whereupon I proceeded to roll 3 CC hits from 3 devestators, which Richard refused to save any of, negating any support FF and leaving me with my BTS intact and Blitz guarded.

Fun games, fun tournament, fun beer festival the previous day.

And another tourney road trip completed!

Special mentions have to go to:
Tom C for beating all comers in the dice off to claim most sporting,
tc63 for making his E:A debut and acquitting himself despite borrowing an army he'd never used before,
Jon for trying to inflict a fear of flying on everyone by using his Ork to win the whole event,
Kyuss deservedly picked up one best painted price for his fantastic marines, and I was surprised and pleased to pick up the other best painted award. Thanks guys!

Thanks to Ginger, Tom S and Rob for three great games - enjoyed all of them despite not picking up a single win!

Lastly a word of thanks for Meph for driving all the way up in the 'traditional' northern weather, sitting out the whole event due to odd numbers on the day, and doing a great job of running & adjudicating the day.

With the unfortunate demise of the popular Open War event run by the 1st Company Veterans Epic-UK stepped in and ran a one day 3 game event yesterday at Dreamlike Gaming in Mansfield.

14 players battled the inclement weather to do battle on the tabletop, with Jon M emerging victorious with his Spreed Freak army of flying death. Dave T was runner up with Krieg and Mike Thomas was the pick of the Marine commanders in Third.

Tom Cory won the most sporting dice off, Darren's orks were voted as Players choice best army, with Simon H's Imperial Fists taking judges best army. Both showing that yellow can look stunning on the tabletop.

Thanks to Dreamlike for hosting us, and we will be back on the 23/24th of November for the GT, tickets for which are on sale now in the usual place.

Daaammnnn... apologies to all for pulling out at the last minute (and to you Dave, didn't realise you'd sit out the whole thing!), my pathetic excuse is that the kids had been ill throughout the night and I didn't fancy a divorce waiting for me when I got back home, so common sense prevailed and I elected to cancel and stay at home to help out the wife with the up chucking 3 year old and 1 year old.

Reedar, drop me a PM with your postal address, I was going to give you the chimeras you bought off me ages back but now obviously won't see you in person for quite some time so I'll sling them in the post.

And yes, you made the correct decision to stay and help SWMBO, I'm sure any of us could deal with divorce etc, but what keeps me in line is the fear of getting home and finding my wargaming stuff up ended on the front lawn from the highest window in the house!
