It's not that extreme. At 5+/5+RA save, both generate the same number of FF kills per unit. That's pretty much in the middle of the pack as far as saves, giving each an advantage in certain situations.
In general, I prefer Speeders as well, but I think it's closer than you make it out to be. As far as other advantages the bikes have...
CC. Although I agree with you that it is rare to be able to exploit it, it's an option and does come up occasionally.
Better Base FF. Adding a Librarian to the formation is a nice boost to their FF/support ability.
Not LV. This is the most important. It makes Bikes tougher. AP is more common in the game, but lots of formations have token AT fire and, obviously, dedicated AT formations exist. There are a handful of common formations that stand out as having a big jump in effectiveness against LV. In particular, it is my experience that Speeders are very tempting targets for light aircraft (Fightabommas, TBolts, Nightwings) because Speeders are highly vulnerable to their mix of firepower. In any particular game it may make little difference, but over the course of many games Bikes show themselves to be more durable.
