Like, how much, and for what?

So far the impression I had got was that your caster was your bottleneck. Not true?

Btw I know its a hobby for you and you don't want to get bored, but you could probably get things moving quicker if you expanded one of the ranges nearer to completion *cough* OTC *cough*. As others have already said of course (just adding my voice to the chorus).

The bigger the war chest, the more I have to spend on new master and production molds, metal, and labor. You see, capitol from any given sale must go to buying an new unit to replace the one sold, and the considerable costs associated with a new wave. Wave 5 for example, is exciting because my first tanks are coming out - but the initial costs friggin' dwarf my other waves. Going from 10 units of infantry to 8 tank units and 3 infantry is like going from little league to the major leagues. Not to mention the demand for my models has increased, so initial runs are now 50+ units rather than 20 when I started, you get the idea.

Often, the war chest is nearly emptied with a new wave release, then sales need to build to provide the capitol for the next. This last wave was further complicated by a massive rise in production costs.

So a lot of junk is involved, but I hope you get the idea.

As for sticking to one line until it's done - It would be possible, but I know how I work - the longer I stick to one line, the quicker my enthusiasm for new concepts runs down, and creative design suffers - I can actually see it happening. Besides, spreading it out gives "previews" as to whats to come, and allows me to revisit lines after a break with brand new ideas and excitement.

To be honest, if you want an incredible increase in new models - like an entire army every other month, I'd need to make enough to do this gig full time. As it stands, I work on Onslaught in between hours working my full time gig, the wife and kids, heavy drinking, etc.

I love this item, it looks amazing. But coming from a business point of view... wheres its treads and cannons? Drop pods are a fluff and cool looking thing, i would personally buy tanks over them as they are just extra spice adding to your army army, the tanks will be purchased enmasse. You actually use the tanks to fight with...

Just my 2cents but i believe this item would be something the flushes out a complete army.

I'm actually quite happy with you spreading out the design of new models over several factions. No way I could afford to order all I want in one go anyway.

Oh sure, I'm pretty sure everyone here understands - not forgetting you have to want to be doing what you're doing! Just trying to grok the ins and outs.

Before considering anything else as regards to capital, have you given much thought to just straight up preorders? Be up front about the fact you're charging cards etc in advance of production and you never know, people (here especially) might well be fine with that. Keep a percentage back to cover cancelled orders, and use the rest to accelerate the next wave. What's the lead time like between being sent off for production casts and them arriving?

Sooner or later though, you're going to need to build stock - the more models in your range, the more expensive that is of course. You'll be splitting the sales revenue between restocking and new lines. Naturally you don't want to go mad on the numbers until you know what sells, but I imagine you can predict some popular units (eg OTC tanks?). Anyhoo, no doubt you've run though all this before, I am just entertaining myself by chewing on all the factors.

I totally understand why your developing multiple lines at a time and am fine with it, I am just curious whether or not you have any idea when you will feel inspired to design more OTC and Avian stuff, particularly some smaller, non tank vehicles?

Another question, do you know how the OTC tanks will be packaged yet? Number per bag, price point, army deals, that sort of thing. It would be useful to know that in advance sowe can start putting aside money for you now.

Oh, I also noted a couple errors on your website.

The picture for the Legion overseers says they are 6mm tall, I don't have any myself yet but I think they are more than that.

Likewise, the picture says the command rigs are 14mm tall, same as all the other rigs, but with those banner poles they are more like 25mm I think.

Just a thought. How about doing a kickstarter for your planned stuff? Stretchgoals could just be models you've already designed. Most of us would chip in and you would get some new customers too...

+1 on the crowd sourcing.

I have to agree. The OTC look amazing so far, but not knowing when or even if you will feel inspired to turn them into a full range means there is no incentive to buy any at this stage.

Warming does seem a little saturated atm - but e&c experience shows there is hunger there for 6mm. You have the advantage of a wealth of great designs already. If you could put the cad work into fleshing out 2 or 3 lines and ks the chance to buy whole armies (even if it took 6 months to get them delivered) your war chest worries should disappear.

I just keep hearing OTC this and OTC that. I think you have your first army you really need to finish, everyone is waiting for the OTC.
