G'day all,
Lookng forward to another year's painting Comp, and would like the canvas the group to see when everyone would like to see it happen.
Remember that we will need some suficient lead times for entries and voting.
Depending on when the majority want to hold the comp I may or may not be able to moderate it due to work committments.
Cheers! Tas

Any time goes Tas, but keep it open for a couple of months at least - I (a selfish enginseer) have to go abroad for around 1 month some time this year and don't yet know when - want to be sure I can take pics and send them ok (the troops won't be coming with me). So my inconclusive vote is for any time you want.

ASAP, I'd love to enter!
(What would be the 'same time frame as before'?)

Quote (Jimbo @ 11 2004 Feb.,07:24) | same timeframe as before, less confusing, and when everyone knows what it is they can start work now if required | I agree that the same timeframe would generally be better for somplicity's sake. Make it an anual event & stick with the same general setup I say - everyone knows what to expect then, just hopefully this year we'll have twice the number of entrants!

I agree that the same time scale as last year would be a bonus. I also would like the timetable put up as soon as possible so that we are all aware of the deadlines and rules right from the start. Tas, let me know when you have a web page put together!
Seriously, drop me a PM if you need anything. Lets make this year even bigger and better!

Why not add a BFG section this time?

OK, it seems like we have a corum for the latter portion of the year. I'll work towards that and publish some dates in due course.
What I will do now though, is put out an early call for prizes. This was the biggest sticking point in last year's comp and was the mainr estriction for categories.
Any and all offers will be gratefully accepted!

Given that we unexpectedly had a 2-tier voting system last time, I would like to move the dates up some. I think moving from October to September certainly won't cramp anyone, but it would keep the voting from dragging into the holidays like last year.

Hi
How about a "best conversion" section this time? That why such entries could be judged on the "modeling skills" involved in the peice and not the painting "though oviously any entries into such a catogory should be fully painted"

A agree. A conversion category would be great, or even three - titan, vehicle and infantry ( ).
Also, more time for the voting would be good. I felt that it dragged on a little last year (my own fault), but I was surprised by the sheer volume of entries!
