Personally I'd love to see something like this happen - I've had a few ideas in the past based on the way architectural models are now constructed, but never had time to investigate the market/production process.

CAD also seems to offer a way around the scale issue - 1 model, potentially infinite scales - i'm seeing it happen for figures, terrain would seem even easier to me. Lazer-cut card/plastic/ply sheet with customer assembly looks imho the most likely to be cost effective [ unless anyone wants to fill E&Cs kind offer of a job in the basement with the rubber moulds? ;) ] MicroArt seem to be doing impressive things with it and for one offs i've seen some really impressively complex models just from CAD-CAM cut card.

I'd also love to break out of the GW grim-dark mold (excuse the pun) and see terrain made for alien cultures and appropriate futuristic functions. As my friend mentioned at our Wednesday game, surely even the Imperium has had enough of fighting over the ruins of Stalingrad! :D

Unfortunately, call me a cynic, I still skeptical that there is really enough demand outside of 28mm (and that now seems flooded with kickstarters.)

PS - I really must stop procrastinating ! :D

If we get enough sales they'll be on the sprue. We should be able to pin down where that mark lies on Monday or Tuesday.

does that mean that we already have 2 poses of aliens and a leader ? What order did you go finally ? I was on the impression that the consensus2 week back was that the gobblers had lowest priority due to metal availability ?

I agree that Gobblers have lowest priority. As to what figures are unlocked at this time I cannot yet confirm - some figures needed rescultping or modifying several times to meet the factory's requirements, but that is almost complete. As soon as we have the figures finalized and processed, I will be able to confirm where we stand vis a vis sculpts on the sprue. I am pretty sure we've already unlocked some sculpts, but I can't 100% confirm that we have them (or that £8k sees *all* unlocked, which is my hope).

8K looks doable I recon, but it's a bit hard to give people an incentive when they don't really know what they'll get at what point.

I think I will grab some more add-ons in the beginning of the week.

Trust me, I wish I could say we all get free puppies right now!

As soon as I know, I'll be broadcasting exactly where we are.

Hey E&C,

What's the cut off (I'm talking time, not date) for the pledges to be made?

I'm tapped out until the 28th, but can likely make a payment late on the 27th....

Cheers
Reedar

Uh, about eight pm on the 27th I think.
I'm sure we can arrange a paypal pledge on the same terms if you miss the cut-off though.

Yes I've been waiting to see what the sprue comp is - cutting it fine E&C! :D

I was wondering, are you just going to have different poses for aliens sprue or will you include some different poses for the human sprue as well?

Is shipping 3 pounds per perk selected, total, or per some other metric?

I've asked the factory to cost me for adding a missile trooper on that side. If we get closer to 10k we can have more than that, heh. I think the missile trooper is already paid for but I can't confirm that yet.

Nah just pay it once unless you're buying lots of metals.

Not by intention I assure you - our original plan was for two infantry sculpts and two vehicle sculpts, and if we could afford it we'd do the bases on a separate sprue, and we had that costed out before starting the campaign - the overwhelming response we've had (we're at £7150 and rising and we asked for £2250!) has meant that we've been able to expand our goals - but that has meant lots of furious sculpting for me to catch up with our expanded targets, heh.
