I just measured a Forge World devilfish and it is 30mm long from nose to rear of the engine and 20mm wide at the outer engine pods. So your new size allowing for the engine fins on your design will be almost exactly the same size as existing models.

The larger, original, correct size is more logical and it is fine for me. Looks correct and scaled well.

But, whatever. I'm a fan of it and will buy lots of them, I won't cry and whine about it and claim I won't buy any because it's not the size I want it in.

I've looked at the scaling and I have to agree the smaller of the two seems logical its all well and good at transport level screaming true scale but when it came to something the size of an imperiator for example they would take up too much room on a standard table, be difficult to store the beauty of 6mm is having huge armies for large scale battle and I think if we were to end up with true scale it would detract from the sellability of the range. However I do think running a true scale back up range might be the way forward then everyone gets what they want you would need to put them somewhere else on your site I think though to avoid confusion :)

Well thats my 2pence worth anyway keep up the good work !

Did you see the new shots? I was able to keep things true scale and also make the model smaller.

I'm going to keep things true scale, but be more mindful of how big things really need to be. If I ever do an imperator equivlant, it will be to scale also. (The book says its roughly 166 feet tall - 166mm is only a bit over 6.6" tall which isn't too much bigger than the official model anyway.)

The real challenges will be making those big super heavy beasts that can transport multiple squadrons of tanks and hundreds of men...

Yes and I'd really like to see a proxy for that while I've got just one of the old models I never thought its look ever reached its potential :).

What Deacon's actually done is just created his first never released prototype "green" which will sell on ebay in 2023 for $200 :D

Love the image with the little fellas huddled in. What do you use to model btw?

As a newbie to the forum, the smaller version looks much better to my eye. Also, extra kudos for the 3D mockup of the sitting troops. :)

To make stuff look bigger you've basically got the choice of heroic scale proportions or even chibi proportions (which you're already using to good effect) or making the models physically bigger. Taking both approaches at once on a 'normal' size vehicle makes it looks substantially out of scale next to other 6mm SF, GW or not.

The big stuff, however should just be massive...

I like them.

On the other subject i agree that the big vehicles should be true scale mega beasts. I've never understood why with small scale ranges the big stuff is nearly always under scaled to the infantry when the small overall scale should allow for proper true scale mega vehicles. Otherwise whats the point of going small in the first place. No other gaming scale seems to have this odd situation.

if You are planning on printing this again, I might mention that the back of the vehicle looks very much out of character with the rest of the vehicle. Most of the curves are visible from the side view but the top view is very angular. Having the rounded rear between the more angular rectangular shapes of the engine pods is out of place.

Perhaps mirroring the style of the front of the vehicle at the rear would help?
