These are good points - but there's two counter points I'd like to lay out:

1. EPIC is dead (at the least the miniature line). And I doubt it's ever coming back. This means the models will get rarer and rarer (and exponentially more expensive in the second hand market). Should we allow a dead miniature line to dictate scales at this point, or correct the issue?

2. Onslaught will have it's own rule-set eventually - I'm not sure I want it to be out of scale with itself. I like the idea of enormous engines of war being...HUGE even in 6mm.

They look perfect in my opinion. You're not making a line of minis for EA anyways (a game of massive abstractions as we like to point out). If someone wants to use them in EA, then great. I should point out SM2E armies are noticeably smaller than the last edition of Epic and no one has issue playing against that now do they?

That being said, if shrinking them results in a significant cost savings then that's an argument I can get behind.

True scale. I want the stuff to look like it can carry ten troopers. I can't put Rhinos on the table anymore because they look like clown cars compared to the infantry. But, admittedly, I am becoming old and obsessive lately.

Anyway: True Scale. Make it all your own, with your own scale and your own rules.

I just envisioned a large-bore howitzer type artillery weapon sitting atop your basic hovertank chassis. I'm probably going crazy.

I'm in agreement with the majority so far...

Thought you guys might like to see this composite render of how a group of 10 armored Neo Ashigaru would fit inside the Baku APC. Even at true scale, they'd be nice and cozy in there...

I guess I could also release them in 3mm scale and make everyone happy ;D

Hi!

True scale Deacon. What GW epic once was is now irrelevant.

This is coming from someone whom owns vast amounts of models for epic. I have long buried any conceit of having a uniform scale, since not even GW was consistent. Also as time has gone by the scales were creeping towards true scale.

True scale all the way and don't look back . You and others doing the same are now epic's future.

I have to agree with the comments so far about true scale being the way to go. My 6mm mans often take up a far larger footprint than their transports - especially with my basing scheme of 2x miniatures to a penny. Having a more honest scale for the vehicles would look awesome and be almost unique in this scale.

PS. You mention your own set of upcoming rules - can I be so bold as to volunteer for play testing if and when that happens? I've got OTC and Hybrids started and I'm already looking forward to those Stygians...

that backpack looks tops!
excited about the OTC tanks, and i'm totally on board with them being nice and big looking. I can see why it might be troubling to some, but i'm fine with tanks having a bit of heft to them

Thanks Guys - I'll need all the help I can get! I'll let you know as soon as I have something to show.

The big thing with the Onslaught rules will be the ability to create your own army lists and play with them. So any 6mm army you have will be compatible...

The idea being that in an infinitely large universe, any sort of conceivable force could be a possibility...

I think its easy to say 'true scale true scale true scale' as a mantra but I would like to see 'reasonable scale'

What do I mean by that i hear you mumble :)

I would like to see models that have a reasonable size in proportion to other models and its weapon ranges. I would hate to see models where their massive guns can only shoot 5x the length of its hull or have trouble fitting a squadron of models in a deployment zone because they are so massive due to 'true scale' requirement.

Wargames models are an abstraction and the same as terrain, I have no problem with having vehicles that cant realistically fit the models it is supposed to carry as it is simply representing the the abstract concept of a transport vehicle.

Just my thoughts, Im loving the models though, your progress is very rapid :)

That could be fun :) It looks like majority differs from my view, fair enough, go ahead and do what you think best.

Certain other vehicles are meant to transport 12 too, somehow.

It will be interesting to see how gigantic a flyer transport capable of carrying 4 of these vehicles will be (if you make one).

Well, since you have already printed the stuff, I suppose this is what it is going to be. While some old vehicles for epic certainly look naff, there is something to the idea of making smaller things bigger and bigger things smaller. After all, we are not collecting models of trains. If you are going this true scale route, just try to avoid gargantuazing things as a matter of aesthetics. For instance, real world IFVs tend to be quite claustrophobic indeed and we would not want the far future to become all comfy now, would we? Just try and keep things reasonable and please do err on the small end of the spectrum.
