Christ, my first day after my last day at my previous job and I wake up at goddamned 5.45am! Got a bit of painting done but thought I'd take the time to start a topic I've been thinking about for a whole as well whilst I've got the time :-).

So, my collection of IG miniatures is really blooming right now; from the collections inception they've been built up as a modular and flexible collection allowing me to field any number of IG Lists that I might dream up; magnets are a mans best friend! Now the time has come that I'm ready to start trying them out in slightly different configurations (I've been on a Baran/Krieg binge for a while!) and I'd like some community help in chewing the cud around fielding them as Vraksians and Cadians. Starting with 3k lists I'll outline my thoughts below.

OK, so something that I do try to do with my lists is include some of the units that are really meant to make a list into THAT LIST...as such, this one's got the Stormlords. I also never leave home without a Supreme Commander despite my ability to roll double ones.

My initial thoughts when trying to dream up how to use the Cadian list was that I could use it as a SUPER slow yet elite Krieg type list in seige transports; thus the 3 core formations all in super heavy transports; march forth on turn one, then start the slow grind towards some ojectives. I'd have to see how this list fares in attrition warfare mind.

There's no access to Warhounds in this list so I've substituted them with Mech Companies, likewise Hydra Companies and the Hellhounds are nice and fast to nip around, lay BM, and start assaults with, the Hydra's are really there more to provide the flak cover and get the activation count up.

The infantry company could be used to sit at home on the Blitz or bunker down on an objective as a garrison further onto the table.

One more activations this time...dropping the idea of a slow seige list and going straight out for sitting on the obkectives with The Kasrkin, Beefed up Infantry Co and Whiteshileds with Artillery on the Blitz. Meanwhilst the 3 Armored Fists and Flak can roll on up whilst the SC's company and the Shadowsword lend fire support.


My only wish for these two lists woubd be that, following EpicUK's lead, Heavy Flamer equipped units got Ignore Cover as a special rule in Firefight; it would make the hellhounds a bit more potent in an assault and, given that I feel Stormlords REALLY need to March on the first turn, would help actually make them worth 200pts a piece; especially when they are an upgrade to an existing formation I'd say they really don't compare well to other Super Heavies.

This one is based on Ricahrd Laking's very succesful Steel Legion build at UK tournaments but has been Vraksified with Malcadors instead of Leman Russ's, Discples in place of a mech platoon and an extra infantry platoon to fill gain access to the support slots needed. Note that Malcadors, along with the infantry platoon, can garrison and so the list could prove quite 'in your face' and aggressive from the get go.

My favourite Cadiz list type definitely makes heavy use of stormlords. I also add one to the SC formation as a deathstrike catcher.
