Flamer on the alien hull should be fine. Alien flamers are traditionally a bit on the big side anyway.

The optimal way for the customer is of course to order exactly the bits they need. Given that that's an impractical way to run a business, I think I would prefer to split them by faction rather than function. (I'm splitting the boxes with a friend, so it would be easier for us to just buy the addons we want - but we could of course also just split the metal addons.)

At some point all the cool vehicle addons will mean that we'll all end up with tons and tons (and tons!) of unpainted infantry left over from the extra packs we bought just for vehicles :)

Isn't the big cannon for the aliens already on the sprue? Now that upgrades are more of an option, could the mortar/big gun thing be moved to a metal upgrade, and the space on the sprue be used for an alternative alien sculpt? Or would that annoy people?

I think – though correct me if I'm wrong – that most alien players would prefer two core alien poses over one pose and the mortar/gun thing.

I think I would cautiously agree with this ^
I'd also love it if the quad gun could go on the sprue, but heaven help me if I can see a way to cast it in plastic.

I was suggesting a really Alien large cannon. What old epic would have called a "macro cannon".

I'm getting really psyched for this now. I bought a load of the add-ons yesterday so can't wait to get hold of them.

Much appreciated!

Question time though; you've put estimated delivery date of July. Is that feasible? It seems extremely close, especially since you'll need to get the molds cut and sprues delivered. Metals I can see that working, but I don't see it working well for plastics.

We estimated the last day of July, and everything we're hearing from the factory says it's feasible.
If it changes, we'll let you know.

Also I'm afraid I'm still not keen on the alien vehicle.

I'll be seeing if we can improve it further before production time.

got any other angle shots of those bikers?

I love big guns, but i agree that trading the cool mortar bit on the sprue for alternate sculpts for the aliens would probably be a better deal (except, of course, it might upset people who have already bought those sprues if they feel differently)

a seperate macrocannon upgrade would be well within my immediate interest though

Well, personally I don't want to collect 2 armies at a time. And I don't think most people starting out (as this is supposedly the main target of the plastic starter) would be either.

I am interested in the aliens; I like the idea of encouraging someone to produce infantry plastic for 6mm; I like it that much more if the people behind it are ones I know for their talents. I feel much more like I'm "investing" like if I was "purchasing" something.
For these reasons, I'm OK with buying sprues half of which I probably won't have much use for beside hoarding. If it was only for me -if I was only "purchasing"-, I'd say scrape the humans, and give me more infantry types for the aliens already.

But it won't extend to add-on packs; I don't think even GW with all their might ever thought it commercially feasible to sell miniatures for two factions at the same time; the only exceptions I can think of are starter boxes. Maybe there are people who would be interested in packs for both humans and aliens; those would also buy the packs as suggested by zombo anyway. I personally much prefer an arrangement like the one zombo proposed, and wouldn't be interested in mixed packs.

People will want one army. And even if they end up collecting two, they'll start with one and collect the second later. I'm afraid you would be taking huge and unnecessary risks by ignoring the way this market work.

Once the models go live on our TMG website, the upgrades would be available separately (at a slightly higher price, most likely).

It's just that on the Indiegogo website, we are limited to 12 separate purchase boxes.
There's simply no space to have a separate option for everything during the crowdfunder.

I agree.

The plastic cannon got added to the sprue as part of the charge for the vehicle because the geometry is so simple. Swapping it out for another alien pose at this time would:
- A - Cost £600
and
- B - Annoy people who have pre-ordered the set on the understanding they'd be getting a particular mix of models.

Ah, okay. I'll bow to your decision, but think the change would be for the better. Is there any way of notifying everyone who's currently on board with a poll, or is that a logistical nightmare?

Could you have 'Box plus X number of sprue expansions', where 'sprue expansion' is, for example 'Alien AA pack', 'Human AA pack' – and eventually the other stuff like 'Alien bike pack', 'Alien slave pack' etc.?

Basically, people buy-in and then choose from a range of sprues to add to their order?

Again, perhaps this is not feasible logistically, in which case, my apologies.

In all sincerity, I hope indiegogo dies so that we don't have to contend with such absurd limitations in the future.

Kickstarter seems to have similar limitations.

I was ok with 12 product slots when we started because I never expected to have anything like as much success as we've had. It's been a stunning surprise. So now we have to deal with the place we are right now.

My proposal: Combined Both Armies Upgrades just for the crowdfunding campaign, and then when we do the full release in a few months they'll be available separately.

It seems to be the best of both worlds.

Sounds like a nightmare to me, a major course change at this point.

This could potentially be done, I think.

Everyone who purchased a "Plastic sprues + Metal Upgrades" set would need to email us specifying what type of Upgrades they'd like to receive.

It's perhaps an impractical way to run a crowdfunder. Not impractical in the long term once the models are actually on the market.
