I'm going to have to see if he can add FUD options to some of those smaller things, I'd like to grab a bunch of them at detail levels that are currently unavailable

Anyone have a plastic 40k drop pod and can tell me the height in mm? I've tried google but not found it.

I'm thinking of messaging and asking if he can re-size the too small drop pods to the above / 5 and add a better quality material option. I'd pick up a couple of sets if he would.

correctly scaled, the pods should be 1.25 inches or about 3.2cm

but honestly, i think that will look too big next to infantry

Thanks but is that based off a plastic W40k drop pod or a metal EpicA one? I'd want them correctly sized to the 40k model and the Epic may well be off too.

I don't see the size as they are in 40k as being too big at all, I reckon they look good. If anything the 40k onr is too small for an orbital vehicle that carries 12 armoured marines.

thats the 40k scale one downsized by a 5. a quick google of "40k drop pod dimensions" shows it is about 6.25 inches tall

what i'm saying is if you measure a 3.2cm line next to an epic marine, the pod looks too big

Thanks again!

The relative size of what looks right next to each other is subjective, like with some people preferring the GW aircraft scale and others the FW ones. Personally all the vehicles, fliers and titans in my Space Marine army are a fifth the size of their 40k versions and anything other than the familiar size from 40k would look to small to me. Heck I'm even converting a 'truescale' Landing Craft that'll be a fair bit bigger to look appropriately sized with the FW flyers (adding parts of two Thunderhawk Transporters and plasticard to the base model).

Ultimately I think I'm going to leave these drop pods though. It would have been a cheap way to get the 20 drop pods I need for my Space Marine army, but even if they had of been larger they're lacking the level of detail I want.

Surprisingly he's still going. There are more SM infantry types and bikes now and I think the Dreads at least got an update to look better.

If any of you get any post up comments and photos

Just got his drop pods. They are the right size, which makes them rather large compared to the old epic ones but they look good to me.
The plastic quality seems ok too. A little pitted in places but I think the paint will fill that on the undercoat.

Sorry about the dodgy phone shots but you get the idea:

Either he's got a few more days, or a few more months. Depends upon whether or not GW's legal department can be arsed to bother with it.

Personally, I feel like his marine proxies look a lot more like 4chan Angry Marines compared to other proxies I've seen... Wonder if he's planning on doing a Commisar Fuklaw?

Because GW doesn't know about him/her/them yet.
Actually threads like this one probably are not helping either :)

The MBTs and APCs are fine as they're plausibly Russian BMP (what the chimera was stolen from inspired by) and the Mk2 tank (Lemon Russell being a super deformed ala Macross version of that). The Marines being called space Marines while looking like GW Marines is probably going to come back to a C&D. The space ships are original designs however.

Do you find it has that Ruffles-have-ridges sort of quality, or are the surfaces smooth?

They are slightly rough, not smooth. I'm hoping that the paint will smooth it out a little, otherwise I may have to try liquid green-stuff.
