side guns are also easier to chop off and loot for other things, which i approve of for reasons. if they're plugs even better (that would allow for posing and modifications, or replacement of the guns with little canard fins which i think would look cool
i think 4 thrusters is a bit excessive for that sort of tank, maybe save it for something bigger if at all

could the guns be on a seperate sprue with a cut-out wedge on the mounting end? this wedge could be rounded/triangular, so they look like one turret when combined

they could then be mounted together, or as in design 1 or design 2...

flexibles, but small cost increase? unless you make one gun/turret sprue that gives options for the ?3? tanks in the pack

loving it all so far :0)

The first is better imo.

Well well well, your production looks mighty fine I must say !

Concerning the OTC tank, could it be thinkable to have plug-in engines ? As weapons could be too, if the two could share the same plug size (I don't know how reasonable it is), we could end up with a modular design, allowing from front mounted engines, back mounted engines, quad engines, underslung or size mounted weapons, etc... I think the VTOL engine design of the OTC tank would be very suited to such an approach.

It would also emphasize a sense of modularity and modernity in the whole OTC vehicle range. If it was conceivable to use a slot size that would be compatible with some semi established standards (EW weapon slot comes to mind), even better. It could also help differentiate the design from existing ranges.

Well, that was just a thought, but I DO tend to get carried away when I think I'm on to a good idea. I'm sure whatever you come up with will be nice regardless.

And so it begins...

Take a look at the following "shape" drafts. Keep in mind this is an extremely early draft - at this point I am simply flushing out basic shapes and silhouettes.

How do these grab you? Positive / Negative - Right or Wrong direction, etc. The tank will have VTOL engines for sure - does a pair of them look good, or does quad engines look more like what an anti-gravity tank should have?

Please discuss anything that you like or dislike - shape of engines, hull, etc. Possible weapon placement, misc. details all that stuff.

Let's get this idea ball rollin' :)

Holy macaroni, Batman!!! :o

First the overview of the sweet Avian range and now this!
Onslaught Miniatures is really working hard to be the new star at the 6mm sky. :)

@ OTC vehicle drafts:
My vote goes to the second '4 engine' version but would totally prefer the mentioned 'plug in' version idea by Athmospheric! Customisation is king!

Yeah, the option to change weapons and/or engines would be great if you could do it without ruining the streamlined skimmer look.

Second one. I like the balance it gives to the appearance of the vehicle. And, it makes a bit more sense. The first one looks like the same old tired Tau design. Also, I do like the idea of underslung guns or a chin turret or a small turret set up but on the front, like a "nose" turret; but in reality, something near the top of the vehicle would provide a much better field of fire.

If you care about reality, that is.

Where are the troops supposed to disembark from?

I think all the weapons and engines will be "peg" mounted - same size. So you'll be able to add engines, weapons, whatever on each of the four "pit" mounting areas.

The underside of the tank isn't complete - but there will be an area for troops.

The round area on the back is indeed reserved for all the various main turret weapons.

Fully modular! Brilliant thinking. I will probably not invest this time, but this line of reasoning makes me almost wish I was into the manga-style of not-so-grimdark.

Number 1 for me

however I'd like to see rear bigger engines and some sort of panel/grill which would imply that there's another fixed engine in the front scooped section which lifts the front up.

Again, thanks for all of the suggestions - here's what I've modified:

- Narrowed Front end
- Added drone "Shields" to the side of gun-ports
- Made front guns under-slung
- Added some detailing to front fenders
- Added vision port
- Added underside placeholder shape
- Stuck a super sized support drone as turret - not finalized by any means, but gets the basic idea across

I like it a lot!

But... It feels a bit "narrow and tall" now, whereas before it was more "wide and low". Probably something to do with either the drone turret or the part the turret is mounted on being a bit tall? Or it could be to do with the narrowing of the nose "wings"?

Looking really good though - just need to squash an stretch it a bit until you find the sweet spot!
