Hi all,

I have wondered about the best, and cheap, way to do this.
I don't want to purchase GW Pred's as they're expensive and on eBay its usually the old SM1/2 Pred's that are for sale.

This 'may' be for a Chaos army so I'm not fussed it they look a little different, only want to ensure that they're at least recognisable as a Pred.
I could use the old Ork Battlewagon turret as those are a dime a dozen but i wanted something a little more 'Space Muhreeney'...

My thought was to use a standard plastic Rhino (from SM2 and E40k era) and possibly add the following:
Main Turret:
Exodus Wars Guild Achilles MBT turret

*How large are these turrets - would they look oversized on a Rhino chassis?

*I like this turret a little better. It has broadly similar shape/style to the current Pred and it's offset cannon looks ok. Is this too small a turret, i.e. would it look like vehicle autocannon?

Essentially, has anyone done this before or is there a pic that clearly shows these sponsons on tanks next to a Rhino?

The battlewagon turrets might not be very marine-ish top turrets, but should work for sponsons. On a low budget the turret from the old plastic ork gun wagons can work for a very blocky destructor turrets, with E40k plastic land raider sponsons for annihilator turrets.

The basic shape is also very easy to make from 2 small piece of plastic card, cut to shape, cut opposing bevels on each then glue together. Slice a hatch from a rhino for the turret hatch, add some sort of rod or tube for gun barrels. Like this but with proper shaped turrets:

Very clever Apoc - I think I may have to use the blocky Bonebreaka turret - though I was hoping for a more modern look. Although it does mirror the old 2nd/3rd edition rivet bound Destructor turret.

Does anyone have a pic of the above Exodus Wars models with a Rhino next to them?

1xMk2 Plastic Lanraider Sponson as a turret
2xMk1 Plastic Landraider Sponsons as...sponsons!

I used the old plastic rhinos as the base for my Chaos Predators.


I used the old plastic Ork battlewagon turrets as the side sponsons (with a little trimming to the top hatch) and GHQ KV1 tank turrets (with some modifications).

Whirlwinds might be a useful basis as well as they've got the turret ring ready. For turrets I'd look at Aoshima's 1-700 Light Ordnane set. It's got plenty of machine guns and 12 turrets in the box for £7.50.
