So whats the idea with this? Is it a one off thing or something you plan to do more of and sell to new players?
My mates and I wanted to try out a new game with a different scale (we usually play 28mm), so I created this 2 player set. It's definitely a one off thing but I would like to add to it in the future.

Nice set, but somehow a bit pricey for a starter kit. Nice idea on the trees!
Not counting the Forgeworld terrain, the regular D6, palm trees (they seem to be OOP) or blast markers this set would be 218.50 € (Germany) or 159.75 GBP via GWs website. Of course, you could get all this via ebay or marketplaces. It just seems.. phew. Much cash.
I am not well versed in eldar, so I will only comment the guard list.
Valk+Stormtroopers and Russes are the two main formations ANY good Imperial Steellegion list should field in my opinion. The Russ are an hard BTS and the Stormtroopers are one of the most versataile formations guard can muster. For 2000 points I would add a mobile regimental command for getting the supreme commander, first. Next step would be getting artillery, aircraft then anti-war engine stuff. In that order. That will not fit in 2K, so...
Tank Comp
Valk + Stormtroopers
Reg HQ
Manticore Battery (get them from FW)
Thunderbolts
Sentinels
->2000
For 3K add the Super Heavy formation and deploy only Shadowswords. After that adjust and fine-tune the list to the prefered playstyle. You may drop the Sentinels, but other than that, this would be my core for nearly every Guard list.
PS: I am no big fan of huge guard infantry mobs.
Thanks for the feedback!
The price for the set was secondary. I am a slow painter so when I paint something I really need to like it.
That was also the reason for the composition of the forces. I picked what I liked and what was reasonably quick to paint. At least what I thought would be...
I like your recommendations.
A mobile infantry platoon, some kind of artillery and some sentinels to buff the number of formations is definitely the right way forward. The flying stuff will have to wait until 3000 points though.
What are your thoughts on Basilisks? They look really powerful.
The most important thing is that both forces are balanced in respect to each other and that they provide an interesting play experience. Therefore some ideas on the Eldar would be appreciated.
Thx!
