Hey everyone - been banding about the idea of taking pics from some of my games and posting them online here. Finally got around to it!

Andrayada & Eldar Vs Imperial Guard

2,000 Pts - house rules. Minatures are all 6mm but played 40k style using mix from 1st & 2nd ed 40k.

Andrayada & Eldar defending city from Imperial attack.

Vengeance is claimed soon after however, as the battlecannon battery on the hill opens up, utterly destroying a war walker.

Hidden Ratling sharpshooters open up from a rooftop, firing poisoned needle rounds at the Andrayada infantry phalanx. They brush off the attack as an old man would a fly on a lazy afternoon.

The Verger opens with a frag missile, scoring a hit on a guardsman squad. The blast kills 6, and breaks the fighting spirit of the men.

A guardian squad across the street trades fire with the ratlings. 3 of the eldar are killed.

A second squad takes position under the ratling position, in order to ambush the approaching imperials.

The Andrayada lieutenant approaches with his plasma pistol, and incinerates 2 of the cowardly ratlings. His accompanying AT hubris support evapourates the third with a lascannon blast.

A squad of elite Andrayada Vanguard troops blast apart the second ratling squad from the street below. Their cover offers protection for the first few seconds, but the sheer volume of projectiles coupled with the fragile ratling bodies makes this confrontation a short one.

The mortar battery finds range and opens up, with surprisingly little effect.

The remaining sentinel disables the leg gyros of the war walker, with the refractor field not stopping the lascannon blast. The battlecannon battery opens up again, with the now-immobilized walker presenting an easy target.

The phalanx trade shots with the guardsmen, with the fusion lances less effective at range than the quick, rapid-fire lasrifles. The resulting exchange however only leads to one of the heavily armoured phalanx falling however.

There is no greater release than that of vengeance stated however, and the Mantragan charged into the attackers, killing several with the mounted power fist.

The eldar spring the trap, assaulting the guardsmen. Neither side was relatively skilled or equipped for such an attack, with the battle fought with rifle stocks and knives. The swifter eldar had the advantage of surprise however, inflicting three casualties. Two of the aliens were distracted during the melee, failing to notice several guardsmen approaching from behind, promptly being punished for their inattention.

Battlecannon shells once again arc down the streets, with two slamming into a phalanx squad, killing 6 along with the morale of the survivors. The third shell is off-target, demolishing the ruins to the left of the lieutenant.

The imperial command squad hesitates, unsure whether to risk destruction at the hand of the Mantragan or from the missiles and plasma cannon of the Verger.

The basilisks prove to be more effective with direct fire rather than in support, opening up with the earthshaker cannons on the Verger. One shell hits home, setting the walker of fire and immobilizing it. The second does not strike true, hitting the wall to the left of the target. Two guardsmen in the guardian/imperial ambush melee look surprised and give thanks to the emperor, as his power spares only them from the blast, in addition to leaving the building (barely) standing.

The Vanguard open up again at the distant targets on the hill. Several shots strike, but one proves true and disables the cannon. The crew are spared however, and vow revenge.

The Basiliks open again, hammering the Mantragan whilst it was distracted with the infantry. The infantry are destroyed in the blast, with the crew's reluctance to follow the friendly fire orders overcome by the presence of the commissar in the nearby command squad. The heavy bolters spray shells into the smoke and dust, with the fire altogether resulting in damage to the ammo feed of the twin-linked autocannon in addition to stabiliser damage. The consequence being that the pilot loses control of the walker. The malfunction soon proves to be less of a concern following the subsequent destruction of the machine after a second barrage.

The lieutenant, hopeless in the face of the armor following the loss of the AT hubris, charges into the survivors of the infantry melee. He easily overcomes the low level troopers, shattering the resistance with his power mace. His triumph seems premature once he sees the command squad only meters away. His last stand is worthy of his rank, felling the two kasarkin bodyguards in the struggle. As he battled the colonel, with the distractions of the psyker apprentice, the commissar walked up to the Andrayada leader, pointed his bolt pistol to his head, and pulled the trigger.

The Vanguard once again fire along the streets, disabling the second support weapon.

The earthshakers once again fire, this time at the Vanguard squad. The shots both miss, but strike the building adjacent to them, destroying both it and two of the three elites. The survivor wisely chooses to flee, over the cheers of the battlecannon crews.

Following the destruction of the Vanguard, a surviving phalanx squad flanks the basilisks. Remaining in position, and diverting power from their suits to their weapons, they release a higher energy beam on the side of the mobile artillery piece, with a similar effect to a melta gun. The microwaves evaporate the lubricant and melt the suspension, flipping the moving vehicle onto it's side - effectively destroying it.

Results
Andrayada/Eldar - 107
Imperial Guard - 103

Close call. It looked like the battle would be really one sided - until the Andrayada walkers went down and the basilisks acted more like tanks than artillery. I don't think the board was large enough (100x75cm, with 1cm = 1inch in 28mm scale) for sustained indirect fire. All in all - an eventful game ;D

I like the force mix. With all the good 6mm companies out there, I too use other races/forces in my Epic inventory. Like DRM PAX, Kray, Andys, Skyth plus Exodus Wars Guild, Khazari, Tarragin, Edenites, CinC Raptors, etc., etc. ... It's all good !

Entertaining report, thanks for sharing.

Can I ask if I'm right in saying that your battlefield is a carpet with books underneath? If so, that takes me back to my early days of playing Space Marine v1... And if I can covertly steal a white sheet without my wife spotting, I was planning on reliving those glory days by having "snow" battle soon!

Oh, and welcome to the community!

Apologies! Very much liked the fact that there were so many slopes - even more so that they were built upon socks! ;D I must get more hills for my boards!
