Make them multi decked! 2 decks at least, with a cool gap in between in the middle where stuff like fighters etc would dock and use as a landing pad...armour on the top deck, crazy engine things underneath; like anti grav engines if they ever have to come down to a planet.
IF they're bigger cousins of the small barges they should have multiple of the smaller weapons and 1 or 2 heavier weapons mounted to the front.

i'm no good at giant sail barges. However, while procrastinating on a work report, I spent long minutes of effort utilising a complex graphics design package (Paint) to create this Space Shuttle. Rumoured to be used as transport by races like Edenites and Andrayada.

Flying stands optional. Pairs of shuttles are commonly seen flying in 'very close formation' with ventral surfaces facing, making it difficult for observers to distinguish whether it is really two ships, or one ship seen from a dorsal view. Hopefully a creative designer might make a detailed version of a similar design a reality.
