Finished my juggernaught riders squadron except for varnishing, to cold again, hence the slight shine on them.

I'm fairly happy with these, i think the backpacks and the plate i put on the juggers heads help make for a nicer model. I also shaved down the guns to a more acceptable thickness and altered the helmets to look more khorne like. The command unit has the upper bodies from some spare OOP figures, i did consider replacing all the upper bodies but this would have been a waste of figures and even more work.

No secret formula on these just done in the same way as my red chaos marines.

Army painter red spray can for the base coat, then i used a black shader over the whole model before picking out the details. The edges on the juggernaught had a AP flame orange highlight and the brass was shaded with devlan mud.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the size comparison! There should be a sticky somewhere where minis from all sorts of ranges are compared to generic Epic minis. Or maybe there is already.

Been a bit lean on updates of late can't get anything finished.

So just a quick WIP of a heavy gun battery for the DK in progress.

Hell nearly a month since my last update, very poor showing. :o

Anyways nothing much new to show except an armoured command unit i've just completed today. Inspired by Carls ultramarine winter challenge (see elsewhere on these pages) and specifically his weathering technics i have decided to re-do all the bases for my Death Korp army in a more mud like appearance, instead of the grey look that i had been doing them in. This has entailed much repainting work on the bases, and all the models need to be dirtied in the new colours. So much catching up to do and still more units to add.

I really like a more realistic mud and dust look on my models and as i base all units i can really blend them into the finish on the base.

The command unit here was inspired by the US M577 command vehicle that has been in service for years.
I wanted to have an armoured command vehicle stand for when my infantry are in their gorgons, and thought that this DRM APC model with the addition of some antenna and a FW brass eagle on the front would do the trick. The centaur also on this base can act as an attached observer if needed.

Great stuff! That stand (or should I saw ulta mini diorama) is awesome!

What figure did you add to the centaur? I'll need to do something along those lines myself when the time comes to paint them but have been procrastinating as I've not come up with something I really like.

I really dig the extra attention on the bases you've done, down to the track marks as can be seen here=>
http://www.tacticalwargames.net/taccmd/download/file.php?id=6521&mode=view
My only suggestion would be to dab some devlan mud (or other suitable color) into the tracks to darken them up and make them pop and give that sense of dynamism.

I really am digging the colors and look of your force! Moar!

EDIT: What's that color combination, btw?

Hey Jimmy thanks. The figure in the centaur is an OOP forumware death korps officer with his base removed.

As for shading the track pattern in the mud i have infact done this but it does not show well in the pic due to the slight sheen, i need to do a better effort on the matt varnish front me thinks.

Just the rest of the army to do again.

Cheers guys
