I gota say those are sooooo nice! very simple and effective scheme. Can I ask what colors you used?

on another note, I think one of the main reasons I love epic as much as I do is that it brings me back to the old days when i was too young to even understand epic40k but I bought the models any way cus they looked soooo cool!!! and the way you painted your nids totaly dose that! thanks for the fond memories! ... end of crazy tandom :)

Thanks guys! I went with the older colour palette for the same reasons you mention Lord Aaron. I've been collecting epic since I was 11 and first got into GW (around '91). I'm not so keen on some of the new colour palettes used on the current range for 40k so went with an old blue and purple scheme.

The blue is painted as: Black, regal blue, enchanted blue, ice blue and finally white on some of the edges.
The purple for the heads is Leech purple (i think, I'll check when i get home), warlock purple and i mix a final highlight of warlock and white.
I used a different purple on the biovore cannons which was leech purple with about three further highlights each with more wahite mixed in.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to mix in another contrasted colour or two for the titans though or they could look a bit plain being so large.

not to high jack this thread but I wanted to show off what I got after a first try. yours still look better I think tho. I think I need to thicken the darker blue lines up a bit more to kill some of that black.

My camera phone dosnt do it much justice even with some PS6 minor fixs but this is what I got. Defently needs a light colored base to contrast it a bit more. maybe ill try snow bases with the bugs...hmm maybe not... :-\

Nice work, Aaron! And quick too. I must admit when I originally started painting the nids, I was looking for something a bit more like yours with less of the blue highlight showing. Mine ended up turning out the way they did and I couldn't be bothered to go changing them again (I'd already started painting my nids red but didn't like them).

I think my bases manage to contrast a little with the scheme mainly because of the Glade Green static grass I used, which is nice and bright. I've been thinking about changing the base scheme to an dark urban grey scheme instead but can't be arsed just now. I'd rather spend time on the minis themselves. Also, I don't think the Glade Green grass I like so much would look particulary good on an urban grey scheme, so the contrast with the minis will likely go. I'll continue to ponder for the time being...
