Nice work, they look great! Good job on the weathering!

The flat empty area of the front hatches are just begging for some detail though and ideally the side hatches too. I'd suggest adding some of the following:
Forge World brass etch Imperial Fist icons
Forge World brass etch Imperial Eagles
Small SM Terminator Crux Terminatus icons (readily available from bits sites), see here and here for a couple of Land Raiders I used these on (excuse poor photos).
All or mainly in black could give good contrast

I'm probably going to add an IF transfer decal on the front hatch and probably a number on the front black panel, not sure about the side doors as with the lascannons in the way I think it will look a tad busy, but yeah they need something to finish them off!

anyone have any recommendations for a tough matte varnish?

Sides like a plan and yeah you might be right about the side doors, I haven't had any of those Land Raider models in a long while so I forgot about the hatch detail.

The best option for matt is to first apply a coat of gloss varnish followed by a second coat of Testors Dullcoat. That is properly matt though, so will take the shininess away from metallics, which may or may not bother you.

Thanks everyone, I've been hard at work on the next wave today, assault detachment, tacticals and supreme.commander and thunderbolts..... Hopefully will have them all done by the end of the month!

okay so totally whiffed my goals so far, but I *do* have some progress, I put the finishing touches to my supreme commander stand last night and am halfway through his rhino, so this evening I *should* have pics of my tactical detachment to show off.....
