Hi, I'm new to NetEpic and I'm in the process of painting up my very own Tyranid swarm to go with my existing 40k army and gothic hive fleet. I have a question about the restrictions on the Tyranid Dominatrix. In the Tyranid army book it says:

"All Swarms must include at least one Dominatrix, but no more than one per 3,000 points."

Is this intended to mean "3000pts or part" or "full 3000pts"? So in a 4000pt list can I take 2 or can I only take a 2nd in a game of 6000pts or more? Does anyone remember the original epic and how it was played then?

Edit: Check Ulric reply latter, he is correct:

0-3000: 1 Dominatrix
3025-6000: 2 Dominatrix
6025-9000: 3 Dominatrix
9025-..........................

Hi!

Scream is correct. In the old days it was just to easy to make stripped down broods with only one attached unit to the dominatrix and you could field several in relatively small games.

Not very balanced. Thus the change. :)

It's definitely a change for the better.

I got absolutely hammered by Tyranids under their second edition rules, and it was not an enjoyable experience, so some changes definitely had to be made to make them more balanced.

I dream of one day owning a Tyranid army.... *sigh*

I'll be keeping an eye on ebay to see if anyone sells a complete army.

check out onslaught miniatures that will be making excellent proxie-models for a tyranid army.

We played it like this:
for every 3000 points started you can have 1 dominatrix
1 for 500-3000
2 for 3025-6000
3 for 6025-9000 and so on
it was not too hard but NIDS are a tough enemy.

@mortdoten: Thanks for letting me know about Onslaught Miniatures! Sadly my prospects of buying anything have died along with my boiler! Stupid heating system!!!

Ah, so I could get 2 dominatrix into a 4k list then. Well you're all too late!! I've already started work on a bio titan to replace the dominatrix so let any mayhem it causes be on your conscience :)
