In case you guys hadn't guessed, the Growlers in the EpiComp were mine. Not exactly the triumphant return to 6mm that I had planned but I'll take what I can get. I had originally intended to camo them yellow and green, but ended up going with this scheme instead on a whim. I think they came out alright, and it gave me a bit of practice with my airbrush. I'm not sure how time I saved using it though.

I tried out some Woodland Scenics flock for basing on the Growlers this week. I think it works but is still missing something. I'll give the Silfor tufts a shot at some point and see how they go together.



I also finished up the Landhawk Scouts this week too. I would have liked to have had them in the comp but I didn't get the cockpit jeweling done in time.



Finally, the Dwarves weren't holding my attention much so I swung back towards my first WM army. These Sword Masters have been a long time in coming. I still need to finish up their command but in the meantime I started in on the rank and file for two units worth.





Additionally, I thought it was time to work on something completely superfluous for the army. Namely, casualty counters. What general wouldn't want to represent his own troops brutally hacked apart and left for dead on the battlefield?

The land scouts turned out better because of the large windows. I use the woodland scenics flock on my stuff too but it needs some selective larger chunks to give enough height variation to pop and even then I'd like some nice epic scale static grass or premise tufts to spice it up. Unfortunately I haven't found anything appropriate yet.

Ya, painting a gem effect on the tiny slits on the Growlers (hey oh!) didn't turn out too well. If I do it again I'll probably aim to have the center be the white dot, instead of the far left.

Noted on the flock. I've got some bigger stuff I'll try mixing in there.

When the slits get too thin I switch to making them look more cylon where the center gets brighter, in this case orange or yellow.

Work continued on the Sword Masters and markers this past week. I finished the flesh on all of them, washing it and hitting it with two highlights. I also hit the first strip with the white basecoat.



Next week will see the white finished most likely and on to the red.

The basecoat for the white's all done, I forgot how long that step usually takes. I also starting in on the first highlight on one strip of casualty counters as well. I'm hoping to finish up my command conversions for these guys in the coming week.
