Hi all, I've not really posted much at all, but here's a model on which I've spent quite some time. I was into Epic years ago, back when Epic 40K was out and Firepower magazine was published: remember that (if anyone has a copy of issue two would love to borrow and have a read..)?!
Anyway, this was my reintroduction to modelling as a whole, and as I'd always wanted an Imperator I started with one. Let me know what you think, and if anyone has criticism or suggestions for improvement I'd love to hear them. The photos are awful, but luckily this covers up the bad patches! There are a few corners that need tidying up, but it's 99% complete really.
I like the idea of an Imperator Titan being a fantastically rare and powerful unit, and by far the most powerful single unit in the game (by Epic 40K rules). I've taken an idea from Firepower One that was for Warlord titans, and that's the idea of the Custodian Titan. I managed to track down an original bell, but the price asked was stupid and the arch was too small anyway, shame! As you can see I've used two crossed swords and a bell from an art shop. Is it a bit too much? I feel it dominates the model somewhat, however that's sort of the point.. As for the rest, I have Marines and a Tech Priest preaching and waving banners, weapon banners and loads of seals and so on. I'm rather pleased with the base. and old Ork tank was melted with a lighter and painted. The assault Marine is one top of a paperclip rolled in PVC and than sawdust. After it dried it was dunked in more sawdust to make it rock solid for painting.
P.S. There's an Ozzie guy whose name I forget who runs a blog with some very good painting: I freely admit that I nicked the idea for the fantastic Dark Angel icons from him. If anyone's not familiar, it's a sprue from GW for 40K which has a whole load of accessories for Dark Angel SM.
P.P.S. I've built up a few images of banners from rooting around on the Internet: let me know if you want any of them. If you have any questions as to where bits and bobs came from please ask!
