Again, some very nice work there ... and I like "polka dot" planet terrain sheet ! ;) The UN goes everywhere ... ;)

Yeah, I realised that pattern was a bit distracting for the eyes...

Next up is the air force. All of my flying models I ordered from Reaper Minis, which is located in Texas. I learned this when I received mail from the Hamburg customs office, telling me that if I wanted my shipment, could I be so kind as to come and declare whats inside the package - the customs declaration wasn't complete, apparently. So I had to actually go and show a German customs officer all the nice tanks and fighter jets I was sent from the US. :) He was impressed, and luckily I didn't have to pay extra to import military vehicles into Germany.

The first two models are ones that I ordered just because I liked the look of them. I guess one could double as a Vulture, and the blocky one could be a transport skimmer of sorts, maybe for a scenario.

The blocky one actually came with missile pods to be attached to the back like the dropship in Aliens had.

Next up are two models I actually can use in the game! The Marauders have a nice chunky outline, I like the models very much!

Till next time!

Wow, I really like those 'Marauder' models, where did you get them from?

Edit - never mind, I re-read your post and found the answer. Was too busy looking at the pretty pictures :)

For anyone interested, here are the Reaper minis I used:

Random Plane: Vindicator http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Ro ... test/07081
Blocky Plane: Badger http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/CA ... test/24568
Valkyrie: Lynx http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Ro ... test/07075
Vulture: Ghast http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Ro ... test/07070
Thunderbolt Harpy http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Ro ... test/07072
Marauder: Kharl http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Ro ... test/24582
Vanquisher: Despot http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/CA ... test/24575

Be sure to order the models via the Reaper 'Boneyard', which means you can order the planes without their flying base, for example. Those bases are sometimes more expensive than the actual model... In other cases, the complete model is cheaper than ordering all parts separately without the flying base. This was the case with my Czar dropship. Be also advised, Reaper changed the scale of their CAV range, many fliers are available in two sizes! Don't order the "true scale" variants, they will probably be too big.

Onto the next batch of minis. First up my Thunderbolt proxies:

Thunderbolts

Again a nice model, though the placement of the missile launcher is highly questionable. I wouldn't pull up too sharply while firing missiles, and their exhaust could really mess up the windshield, I think... But hey, they look real nice!

Next up are my personal favourites. Thanks to Onyx for the inspiration!!

Valkyries
Cue Wagners "Ride of the Valkyries"...

Who doesn't like double-fuselage airplanes? They're just cool as heck... 8)

Then there was this one model I couldn't pass up when I ordered from Reaper: A big fat dropship that I can't really use in game... Why can't the imperials have a dropship when every little ork tribe can fly onto the battlefield in style? I mean it doesn't have to be a thunderhawk...

There you have it, this is what I have finished until now, starting somewhere around early october. I guess I'm on track for that Christmas deadline. Future updates will be a bit slower, since I'll have less free time due to work.

On the to-do list right now are 8 Chimeras, two stands of Ogryn, and then I'm out of models to paint... But I'm still waiting on a shipment that is overdue, with a LOT of infantry and a few Leman Russes. Once that is done, I'm done!

Cheers

Jan

Love it all!
What a brilliant army.
Well done mate.
REALLY looking forward to seeing the rest of the army (once the rest arrives).

Wow, really nice-looking! I just started painting Epic in part because I was tired of the grey-brown-olive of WWII. 28mm sci-fi is expensive and I would NEVER stop painting even the first unit out of perfectionism. But you can do something really satisfying in 6mm in a day.

Your work is inspiring!

It is also a wonderful advert for DRM, whose painted examples don't do their vehicles justice at all, I now see.

Great flyers. Can I see those kharls up next to something can get a sense of scale on?

Thanks

Thanks for all the praise, everyone! I can't paint much at the moment, and the missing shipment hasn't materialized as well. Updates will come, though...

I don't have time to upload them properly, I hope these links will work for you:

If not, the Kharl model is about 40mm long and has a 40mm wingspan - very boxy!

Nice! Think I just found my storm talons proxy. I'll just call it the rare Messor pattern ;)
