That's the beauty of systems like Kickstarter. People commit to paying up front.

Struck out on my own to see about getting 6mm original IP items in universe compatible look and feel (aka Grim Dark TM). So far I've had pretty good reception on several ventures I've discussed with a couple of different peoples. At the moment, currently trying to work out a deal regarding getting this debiggerized or straight out licensed to us for 6mm.

This is going to production in 28mm scale by a particular model house so we're clear in any legal way if this can get negotiated to be sold in a smaller size by them.

Ok new developments on this. Looks like this is going to happen. What is up in the air is if the current 28mm folks are going to take on a debiggerized version in resin or is he going to come up with alternative channels. Still kicking around the idea of shopping this to someone here that might want to take this on if they decline (the artist is retaining all rights to their work so no worries on that front). Currently he's affected by Sandy and not expecting to finish up the full sized version until EOY 12 but otherwise we are looking pretty good for this in 13!

Even talking up some people on the board in trying to feed some original ideas their way to produce.

So to hopefully help kickstart some discussion and more action here, I've finally got off my duff and uploaded a few ideas (and to prove that they are totally IP neutral I've got corresponding pics showing inspiration sources covering both prior art and the fact these are owned by the US public, wargear). Anyways, enough fake-lawyering and here's the link to a photobucket album containing rough sketches to inspire talented individuals on the boards perhaps?

Anyone is welcome to run with them in a for profit manner but I ask if they are to be realized as a product, that I am contacted 1:1 over PM for final blessing (and perhaps if you are feeling good, you'll make sure I get a few sets of them off the assembly line as well). :D

In addition, there's some expository probably in order to explain in more detail just what we're seeing there.

As I do more I will periodically upload more inane scribbles for others to try to work out. Hopefully I am not the only one to try this out!

Weird. Checked it in an incognito window and I can see that if you put the URL in the browser twice then it pulls up. It is a public album and I confirmed this didn't get flipped. Gotta love that beta code :{[]

Paste this into your browser until it finally works

Hmmmm what is this? A debigerized alpha version of Project Athenian?

Super rough but this guy is willing to take 1:1 feedback to make this better. If we all started beating some bushes, i wonder what we'd find?

That won't print, the exhausts are too thin for strong&white.

P.S. And don't ask what I think about the sculpting.

Oh it's atrocious. :) Let's not be coy.

More importantly is that this is someone I effectively cold called and said, "hey, what about 6mm? Willing to take some c&c from us?" and THEY DID IT.

I'm advocating this folks:
Go out and find someone doing something and see if you can get them to even consider debiggerizing it to our scales and use. I mean, I am no artist and lack pretty much any other talent than irritating people but if a silly, no talent schmuck like me can even talk someone into considering 6mm, AND THEY'LL DO IT, I consider that proof that if we try, we can make things happen round here. [hint hint] :)

My 3 step plan for happy good time world domination modeling:

Step 1: get them to debiggerize.
If you can get them to do that, they'll be willing to go the distance I feel. They're reaction is usually, "wow never thought of epic"

Step 2: c&c to unsuck.
We're ultimately the experts in this stuff. We're the people that go out and buy piles mountains of white metal to paint and play with. We know cool when we see it.

Step 3: Profit?
Ultimately back it up with some purchases. Get loud about it here and other boards. if people see there's hunger for army scale, they're going to come :)

It does look a little familiar, whilst the OOP Otterware models are much preferable and greatly lamented, i wanted more :( , these are better than nothing and would do with a little work of course.

As to IP issues could you get away with something like that?

I personally wouldn't touch them as is for more than their ugliness JIC.

However the victory condition for me was to go out and show that there's plenty of people trying to CAD things in GrimDark TM at 28mm scales and so far most everyone I've talked to was not only willing to try out 6mm but actually has put their money where their mouth was, so to speak. This particular person I believe might be a good example of the type of things we could try as a community where something is a starting point that we can see some potential in and work with c&c to not only help them with their designs but get some good stuff that isn't infringing from them over time. I'm less worried or even caring about this one item as opposed to being that dude that's not afriad to call someone up and say, "hey we want 6mm shit. You're stuff isn't up to scratch but we can help you get there in return for stuff in epic scale" and to show we can get a positive response.

Of course not everything is going to be the above posted flyer where we have another company taking on the design to go to 28mm market with and we're free and clear in IP-land. In addition, in this above link I personally advocate that we don't really pursue this design as opposed to really finally make an real effort to go for it on original works here and we all step up to the plate.

On the other hand I've been accused of being a naive dolt before ;D

Hey jimmy i understand where your coming from with this, but i do want recognisable grim dark proxies and the above mentioned model is at least a good stand in for a LR once some weapons are fitted.

I am always willing to view possible new items, bring em on.
