Hey Mate,

Fantastic work, I think you have raised the bar again and are leaving the rest of us for dead. I love the detail on the engines, it's fantastic stuff. Really looking forward to the Mechs and more.

Cheers
Aaron

Wow. I must say my jaw dropped after looking at your cruisers. Love the blending and especially the glow effect.

Thanks, I still may come back and add a touch of freehand here and there at some point. Seems I'm doing alright on CMON. I think they should be a couple notches higher but it looks like CMON screwed with the levels on the photo after it was uploaded and it's all washed out now compared to the original image.

Hopefully it keeps above an 8 and breaks 50 votes so I can finally boost all my ranked stuff over an 8.

The engine glow in particular is incredibly realistic, but then so is the blending on the side plates. Simply superb all around.

totally agree here

It's been a bit, but these guys were actually done a few weeks ago. I've just been waiting for the decals to arrive so I could finish them out. Anyway, this is my Eridani Light Horse lance. I think the pics turned out a bit too yellow. The green is a bit more grayish in person. I'm down to one Inner Sphere lance and two clan stars on my collection left to paint.

Superb shading! Your experience from your Gothicomp entry really shows through in these.

I think those are the first Battletech minis I've seen that I actually like the paintjob on! The OD Green actually makes them look like they might be used in a military capacity.

Thanks! yeah, the strike cruisers did help push where I can go with the shading, but the rather unfortunate side effect is that it's put a serious dent in my output speed these days. Back with I was doing the Fists for Cal it was running about a week per formation or 6 vehicles. With the Ravens that's gone up to about 1.5-2 weeks per. With these guys I'm running around 3 weeks to a months for four.

It's really making me have to re-evaluate my plans and cut back on what I take on considerably if I ever want to see any of my own models done.

Monkey: Technically most of the battletech miniatures you see are in parade paint schemes which are pretty distinctive. In combat, most of the units tend to be in camo appropriate to whatever conditions they are fighting in. I've typically been trying to use schemes that are a bit more practical as well as distinct. So the Ryuken-roku are a greenish-gray with a few spots of red-brown, Wolf's Dragoons are Epsilon Company which has a nice desert tan color, and these guys are Eridani Light Horse which are the olive green.

well, it's been awhile. All manner of things conspired to make sure I've had no rest and not much time for painting. I've got to say these almost had me quit painting for a good long while too. Somehow after I was 90% finished I realized I'd painted the scheme inverted and I was prepared to strip them down and start over. Thankfully the client suggested a different scheme which only put their completion off by a week. All in all they didn't turn out horrible for a higher end table top quality job. These are painted up as Wolf in Exile Beta.

There were minor conversions on these for pose and giving the hellstar some beefier torso PPC's. I believe that the next couple of weeks will be spent prepping a large number of models for painting since we are hitting the cold season soon and I don't want to mess with priming outside.

no :( I don't have an airbrush. It's part of the reason I can't put out the volume of work than some of the more commercial paint studios can.

I don't really like the look of the Battletech minis, but your paint jobs make them seem a whole lot more appealing. Good job!

I've heard good things about the Harbor Freight airbrushes - they're cheap and will give you a solid base to work off of. Might help to increase your productivity as well.
