AM/AMTL - The Way Forward (or a call for army lists)

I only spotted this on Sunday. I did send Dave a message indicating I was interested, but had a timescale that wasn't going to fit supplying a list inside a day.

If you are willing to give me the week I need to collate my notes on the initial playtest, and get the feedback, I'm happy to offer an alternate list to the community.

I totally understand if you aren't - I don't know the politics, but it seems pretty tortuous. I'll happily work on Engine War in my spare time (as it's a labour of love for me), & collaborate with whoever (Vaaish?) steps up to do the mech list than rush something I'm quite passionate about.

IMO another 10 days from today is more than appropriate for all parties. It is summer time. People are on vacation or doing home repairs or any number of other activities. I personally would like to get a community vote in on this to make sure the next (current?) AMTL Champ is solidly received.

Add an "r" to that and it'd be more accurate...

It'll be completely up to the new AC but the NetERC would very much like to see cooperation/collaborate work between them and other interested parties. More Epic stuff is good, the new AC should be utilizing those who'd like to contribute.

And let's take two on the process:

1) It would be helpful to everyone if those interested in entering posted their ideas (list(s), or even just an outline) for some public feedback. This'll help the interested parties refine their ideas and give the community an indication of how receptive the parties are.

2) The new hard deadline will be on August 6 at 00:00GMT. Send me either a PDF or a link to the PDF hosted somewhere on these forums.

yes, tortuous is a rather fitting word. It's been a rather frustrating 6 months and far more of my effort than I care to admit has been dealing with politics than working on the list itself. We were just getting to a point that I felt the Skitarii list had a solid core after rounds of discussion, revisions, missteps, and politics where we could focus on fine tuning stats and seriously discussing the structure of the allies section.

Hi Vaaish,

I agree, the Ad Mech Skitari list is certainly on its way to being a good'un. Especially like things like the Ordinatus Minoris, etc.

My main concern is I don't really feel the Titan List is that playable, and needs serious revision to get it into a state where it reflects the background, and fun to play both with & against. At the moment individual units are balanced against epic as a whole, but they go together into an army which is doesn't really work. As a hardened titan player, the minimization of the combat weapons makes me sad as well.

Maybe a Titan-heavy list never will be playable because of activations and so on, but I have a few ideas that seem to be working at the moment in playtest games. The ultimate goal would be to produce a workable tournament titan list, but my insurance in case of falling short would be the Titan vs. Titan nature of the list - if it's designed to be titan-on-titan, then many of the activation problems are minimised, even if they can't be solved for epic as a whole.

Defo best if we work together though. I'll get the first draft of Engine war done this week, and then we can compare notes?

I love the smell of co-operation in the morning... it smells like... VICTORY!

Keep up the good work, gentlemen!

I didn't enter in the end, simply because I didn't think an entry without an commitment to follow through was fair.
(and no time).

I'm surprised speaker to machines didn't, but I've not seen him online for a while.

What will happen to Knightworld? I haven't heard back from Morgan since late April and as I've been saying in the relevant topics, the list needs a tweak or two.

Carlos, shoot me a PM with what needs tweaking and I'll look it over and see if I can get in touch with Morgan.

so will the authors of these lists to be posted be known or unknown to the voters? Seems to me that popularity contests should be avoided if possible.

Quote frankly it's a little silly to expect this to be anonymous. As the current AC, I'll be submitting the current AMTL lists for the vote. Since it's already well known that I'm AC and what the lists I'm working on look like, there is little to be gained from pretending it's anonymous if at least one author is known. Secondly, the winner of the vote is slated to be the next AC, and should the lists I submit lose, I think the community has a right to know who they are voting into the AC slot.

Note - I have split off the more..... political, discussion and quarantined this temporarily. While I acknowledge that the entire process has been less than smooth, I am not going to point fingers or conduct an autopsy beyond taking away a couple of learning experiences. It is what it is, and the aim now is to get to a point where the actual list and development utilises more bits, bytes and electrons than talking about the troubles, issues and grudges.

Just a bump to remind people that the deadline is this Monday at 00:00GMT. Please PM your lists/links to them before then for inclusion in the poll.
