Ive been thinking a good bit about how to deal with allies in the skitarii list and I thought perhaps that it would be good to start a discussion on the subject.
With the removal of Ig aircraft from the list and the concept of more ground based aa in the list we are really only left with titans as allies. That lead me to a couple of thoughts. We want the skitarii list to mainly represent more infantry based and less Titan baed options and we already had the amtl list so here are a couple of thoughts about the allies.
First fluff wise it seems that Titans and skitarii are pretty separate although there are times you see them together such as if they are defending the forgeworld proper or the fluff about some Titan legions having their own skitarii regiments.
Then you've also got the skitarii armored units that exist and that there will likely be a complete list dedicated to. Last, there are installations that would be admech allied but not part of the skitarii or Titan legions proper.
What I'm thinking of doing is to make these changes to the amtl list: Allow skitarii Demi-centuries to be taken in the Titan list outside of corvus pods Replace forge knights with colossus or praetorians
These changes would allow a mixed Titan and skitarii force showing a Titan legion with its own skitarii regiments and remove the made up forge knights entirely.
And these changes to the allies section of the skitarii list: Reduce Allies to 25% Allow for 0-1 Titan formation per 3k points Allow for the heavy tank cataphract macharius as allies Allow for Russ executioners as allies Maybe allow a super heavy tank cataphract Maybe allow for the defense laser installation
The net result would be at 3k you would be capable of taking two macharius detachments or one super heavy tank detachment or one Titan(war hound or reaver only) or one Russ cataphract. At 2k points you could take one macharius detachment, or one super heavy detachment, or warhounds.

Definitely want to keep the Forge Knights in the Titan list. I'm not a fan of the robots. I like the Demi-Century without Corvus Pods idea and I wouldn't mind seeing Praetorians (but not at the expense of the Knights).

Ummm......Maybe the adjustments to the AMTL list but really why mess with something when we have more pressing issues. As for the Allies changes and restrictions.....Way over the top and unneeded.

Don't worry, I'm not going to be implementing any changes to allies quite yet. We still have a long way to go with testing the current core list although discussion on the current draft seems to have dried up. I am, however, trying to get discussion going about the skitarii allies section for when the rest is nailed down and we add the allies back to the list.
I was curious about limiting titans as allies in the skitarii list while expanding the ability to add infantry to the titan list to still allow for mixed forces in a way that would give the Titan list a bit more variety to play against since it's been my experience that full titans can be boring to play with and against.
I'd really like to see forge knights go away or be replaced eventually. It would remove one of the last made up units from the list which I think is a good thing. Perhaps a slight crossover with the knightworld list at some point?

forge knights are made up, but they're also quite popular (or so it seems). Perhaps we should petiition FW to mention them in an IA book?
I kinda sympathise with you on adding infantry to the AMTL list, but the titan list is currently stable and fairly complete. It's hard enough getting the herd of cats focused on testing a list, so throwing more options for change at us won't really help.
What is the current state of the skittarii list? I thought we were waiting for a new version based on the last round of discussion?

I released a new test list (F) for the skitarii around the middle of May based on the last round of changes but there doesn't seem to have been much response from it.

I don't think i am qualified to offer useful suggestions - having not read the black library fluff nor played a significant amount of EA - but just for the record i am looking forward to starting a Ad Mech force when the list gets a little more concrete (though it sounds like things are just about to get thrown in the air again (not necessarily a bad thing.)
My only comment is that (for me) the forge knights are one of the major elements which distinguishes the Ad-Mech list from the many varied IG lists (from a modeling perspective if nothing else.) Personally, the more small walkery thingies / robots the better. As you say, Titan only games are a bit dull, but groups of "mechs" are cool. Titan legions II introduced a fairly tight relationship between the Ad mech and knights IIRC...?

I don't currently have plans to toss up the Skitarii list any time soon. My goal is to continue testing it and making adjustments where necessary to the current structure.
In the near term that means testing out the infantry and robots thoroughly. The next goal after that will be the allies portion of the skitarii list. the long term objective will be comprehensive testing of the minorus and creation of a weapons table if necessary listing AMTL and Skitarii point values.
After that happens we can start looking at the AMTL list and some of the ideas I'm floating here.
