OK. I admit. I am intrigued.

I started basing my buildings on 4"x4" squares, or multiples thereof. Ive always wanted a set of roads that could work with this...and Ive bought a few and even printed out a few dozen full color copies of Toshach's roads (he has nice dirt roads also).

My problem ran into when I wanted Y's and Forks, or Exits (like from a freeway, a Y but with one section being completely straight).

My plan was to print them and mount them on magnetic sheets from Oriental Trading Co but I havent got there yet. I always get stalled when I feel I am short of perfection: analysis paralysis, as it is.

Here, you have something really, REALLY intriguing to me. I had considered buying that Terrainworks piece myself, but I have zero talent or skill in Photoshop. My existing buildings being on 4"x4" squares may be a problem, but I imagine I can get past it. I am going to follow this with interest, and likely will print a full set out when you've finished. Looking forward to seeing more!

Well, fortunately, I use Photoshop quite often on the job, so I'm comfortable making changes or whatever I need to do. If I was really awesome, I'd do it in Illustrator so I could scale the tiles to any size. Unfortunately, I haven't used Illustrator in so long that when I went in to try to do this the other day, I was stumped at where to begin (and that really, really sucks.)

Work has been busy, but hopefully I can get back on these next week.

I love the idea, and the mag strips kealios!! but the one thing that smashes me in the face when I see these is that they all look too clean! ie- they look like they were paved and painted last week. Now thats fine in some cases but if I learned any thing from being an 3D environment artist its that the world is a dirty worn out place.(in most places) And we are talking about the 41st millennium! I think they need a lot more of the following,

cracks in the pavement
chips in the side walk
dirt, dust, maybe a little mud
oil stains
faded paint lines (GOD MAN , DARKEN/fade THAT YELLOW!)
warren pavement
tire marks
lines in the side walk
decrease the length of the white lane markings a bit.

Im sure theres others, these are just off the top of my head. Now dont take my thoughts as just criticism(bad) take it as constructive criticism(good).

Also would u be willing to share the PSD file of this?

You could always wash it once its been mounted to whatever youre basing it on. Print, stick down to those adhesive magnetic sheets (theyre flexible and can store easily), then hit them with some Devlan Mud or Sepia. You can also cut small strips of the magnetic sheeting to put trees, berms, and other roadside bushes on, to be used as scatter terrain along the lengths of non-urban roads (besides the cross-table highways, for example...which is why I wanted non-concrete roads also, and the highway exit types...see, Im not picky, Im insane!).

I agree with the previous. If you're willing to spend some money on R&D, Toschach Miniatures makes some nice 6mm roads you could borrow some ideas from. My favorite: a circle of road that can be cut to any angle curve. I have the 10mm versions and they're actually a good buy for 6 bucks. Free (and community made) is always better though.
