I missed that bit about the Loki. Let me look into it. I can't promise you on the names though, it's more of whatever name pops into my mind as I type so it's toss up if I'll remember the IS or Clan name at a given moment. :)

On the schemes, basically the two I listed are the only ones I like. I guess I could go generic gray for the wolves.

EDIT: ok here's what I've got for the stars now, I think I like this:

Clan Star 01, Jade Falcons 11792:
Nova A
Stormcrow Prime
Mad Dog Prime
Hellbringer A
Warhawk C

Clan Star 02, Clan Wolf 11787:
Ice Ferret D
Nova A
Timber Wolf C
Timber Wolf C
Dire Wolf Prime

Makes sense and looks entertaining. I'm not sure how well all the weapon fits'll match, but that's another issue altogether.

I would again suggest upgrading everyone to Elite or Veteran pilots and having them face off against even more Inner Sphere pilots. The Clans are really quite good. Also, stuff'll blow up quick.

Just go with a darkish grey for the Wolves. Put a few details on it and it'll look nice enough, and the formal color schemes seem like they're fairly fluid anyway.

Thanks for all the help. This is extremely confusing as to what goes where and it's just compounded by my attempt to collapse it down to 4 IS lances and 2 clan stars that are roughly balanced and interchangeable.

With my (limited) understanding of the mechanics, the Dire wolf star shouldn't be a problem. The timber wolves and Dire Wolf have a lot of ranged stuff and pretty hefty missile loads while the Nova A has the two ER PPC's and a MPL, the Ice Ferret has the 4 MPL. Should give me something closer in as well as some good ranged damage to whittle down the opposition.

The Warhawk star is more up in the air. The Warhawk should work well long range with the ERPPC;s and LL coupled to the TC, and the Mad Dog can support with missiles and more lasers. The Hellbringer seems to be a bit of an all around mech with more missiles to the game and added lasers and the UAC5. The stormcrow basically has the role of the Ice Ferret and the Nova A supports with the PPCs again.

At least in theory there's a pretty good mix of lon and medium range weapons and perhaps enough for a knife fight.

Any thoughts on the IS Marauder lance and the Awesome lance? Do those work out alright for the Wolfs Dragoons and ELH?

Wait, so which mechs do you have painted in which schemes already? And which do you still have at loose ends? I'm confused.

I've got these painted:
Lance 01, Ryuken-Roku 5822:
Stinger STG-3gb
Griffin GRF-2N
Victor VTR-9K
Battlemaster BLR-1Gb

Lance 02, Wolf's Dragoon Epsilon Coy. 5798:
Wasp WSP-1S
Wolverine WVR-7K
Archer (wolf)
Warhammer WHM-7A

The loose ends are these two lances:
Lance 03, Black Widows 5792:
Rifleman 4D
Warhammer 7A
Marauder 3D
Marauder 3D

Lance 04, Eridani Light Horses 5745:
Shadow Hawk 2K
Rifleman 4D
Thunderbolt 5Sb
Awesome 9M

I think all these are good but I don't know for sure about the ELH lance

.ELH tend to use moire mobile mechs. Either lights or mediums, with heavier mechs having jump jets. Both lances are pretty heavy but I guess the second is lighter- so stick with way you have them.

The ELH do have 1 specific variant of T-Bolt that they mainly used. I forget the name of the variant and can't double check it tonight. From memory it is called the SE and has jump jets.

I am trying to remember if there is a Marauder with jumpo jets. If so then maybe worth swapping for an Awesome to help speed up the final lance. If not then leave them as they are with tweak of makimg T-Bolt the SE.

Cheers

James

Just looked up the SE and it does in deed have JJ. I'm really good with either variant but the SB to SE swap drops the BV by 200 I'll need to make up for. There seems to be enough range with the Shadow Hawk and Rifleman I can probably do it, but the rifleman would have to be a 3050 version with clan tech that I'm not quite as fond of putting in there.

Typically I don't start in on a new project until after I finish up an existing one, but since the weather looks to be fairly rotten this week I ended up spending some of the time Saturday that I would normally have used for finishing up the project this week and instead finished up the conversions for the last two Battletech minis I need for my second lance. After giving away the warhammer a while back, I had to acquire a replacement for it for my Dragoons Epsilon lance from a friend who gave me a couple to work with. I've also finished up my conversion of the plastic Archer I've got to the Archer Wolf variant. If anyone has any info on this guy I'm curious since I'm putting it in the Wolf's Dragoons lance. Seemed like a safe bet, but I don't know. Last question, on the back side of the Archer's lower center torso, there seems to be a second cockpit. Any idea what that is or if it's just random detail on the model?

If all goes well these should be painted up by the end of next week. :)

In the 3039 technical readout theres a variant of the archer that use's 2 lrm 15's and 2 large lasers from the DCM's. It's the ARC-2k variant, they dropped all 4 medium lasers for the 2 large lasers and bumped the heat-sinks up by 2. I like this variant in a long range support roll a lot, although if you let something get close to you you're going to have trouble.

The closest I think that's been gotten is the MW4 intro video :)

In between waiting for washes and other bits to dry on the land speeders I'm painting up, I've been slowly working on a 3rd edition plastic thunderbolt mech. Well, it's finally done sans a bit of filing that has to wait for the GS to harden. Seeing what I started with and what I've got now, I'm pretty happy with the result. This one will be part of my ELH lance but It'll be a while before it gets painted. I still have conversions and patching to do on the other three mechs in the lance and some other projects to get done.

I've been trying to get the lances built up so that I'll be ready to paint them and I won't need to spend a lot of time in between for prep so I've been trying to get one mech posed and ready in between painting projects. With the thunderbolt done, I decided to move on to the awesome since it required a bit more time being metal to repose. Anyway, after yesterday and today, here it all ready for basing material to be glued on and primer.

Since you mention them (Awesome looks good BTW) - I'm no longer entirely confident in the assignments.

Wolf's Dragoons and Kurita didn't fight the Wolves and Jade Falcons much. Smoke Jaguar (or Ghost Bear, or the Nova Cats) would be a more logical foe for them. And the SJ were dicks who fought with everyone - the Wolves and the Nova Cats used to raid them. And the Ghost Bears on occasion, apparently. So Smoke Jaguar plus one other Clan would work well enough.

The ELH fought the Jaguars on occasion, so you could do a lance of them and maybe add some more Ryuken? The ELH lance should be a bit lighter than the one you propose, IMO.
