I really don't see the point in complicating things by removing the AA shot from the ordinatus just to make an upgrade to allow for and AA shot. Seems overly convoluted for about the same effect.

Don't look now, but the Marine Thunderhawk seems to have quite a few, the Thunderbolt uses stormbolters, and the Marauder has AA HB as well

The weapon name got changed to give it AA.
Functionally and thematically, the ordinati required AA.
I'm not sure that they do anymore mind you now that they move 50% faster.

The point being that there are AA HB and even if landed I believe the HB still provides AA.


I don't follow you on why moving 5cm more suddenly makes having AA unnecessary.

Their role has changed, now they're up with the rest of the army as battle tanks instead of slow gun platforms they don't need their own AA anymore.

Majoris are still 10cm and I don't see any changes to that negating the AA.

Even with added AA to the robots or praetorians, I think the Ordinatus AA is going to be needed if we drop the thunderbolts and marauders. If anything the speed boost makes the minorus better at providing support for the infantry since it can keep up with them and put them in a n AA bubble. I'm not sure what we'd replace that with without the list becoming very one dimensional.

30cm AA is for self defence, it is generally completely useless at army wide protection. Ref: Orks.

I know there's been a lot of discussion about the AA shot on the ordinatus, and I think it might be best to leave well enough alone and revisit this later since it's a fairly subtle stat change but this seems like something a good portion of you have strong feelings about. To start with, some of the ideas have been to create a new AA weapon for the minorus and I wanted to say that I don't see this route happening at any point because it takes us far outside the fluff regardless of how plausible it might be.

The idea floated to allow access to the CML has some merit but I think it makes it too expensive in the list to be useful as an outright upgrade. Instead, I'm curious to know what people thing of outright replacing the two HB on the ordinatus with a single multi-laser having the CML stats? It gives a minor AT boost to the Ordinatus but I think this would be the best compromise between creating a dedicated AA weapon from scratch, adding a new upgrade option to the list limited to just the Ordinatus, or just leaving well enough alone. If someone already suggested this, I apologize.
