A massive 24 players old and new turned up at Maelstrom in Mansfield yesterday to play many a game of EA and the full results can be found
Here. RichL, MikeT and Steve54 came 1st, 2nd 3rd, and I came joing 12/13th with Kev101 :-)! YmeLoc got a well deserved mass public 'Best Army' vote for his Eldar; a testament to the armies continuing appeal, in addition I'd like to give a big shout out to PAR's Feral Orks; the scratchbuilding and overall ethos in building the army on the cheap was a real inspiration and the looked WAY better in the flesh then they do in the pictures!
I had 3
really good games against Enri, Mephiston and Alansa all of which ended up in a 'crushing victory points win' to one person or the other: 14/11pts split.
My army was:
-WARBAND: 2 Nobz, 6 Boyz, 2 Grotz, Nobz [235]
-WARBAND: 2 Nobz, 6 Boyz, 2 Grotz, 3 Battlewagon, Flakwagon, Gunwagon [375]
-BIG WARBAND: 4 Nobz, 12 Boyz, 4 Grotz, Warlord (BIG) [350]
-STORMBOYZ WARHORDE: 6 Stormboyz [150]
-BLITZ BRIGADE: 4 Deth Kopta [150]
-BLITZ BRIGADE: 4 Flakwagon [150]
-BLITZ BRIGADE: 2 Flakwagon, 2 Gunwagon, Oddboy [200]
-BLITZ BRIGADE: 2 Flakwagon, 2 Gunwagon, Oddboy [200]
-MEKBOY STOMPAMOB: 3 Stompa, Supa Stompa, Flakwagon [510]
-MEKBOY STOMPAMOB: 3 Stompa, Supa Stompa [475]
-LANDA [200]
The Warband with the Extra Nob formed the 'Sooweecide Skwad' and mounted in the Landa, the two Oddboy Blitzes were armed with Zzap Guns and the 2 Supa Stompas with 3 Supa Guns each and the BTS Stompa's switched a Big Gun for a Combat Ammer each to ward off Terminators!
The general idea was to Garrison the Big Warband and Stormboyz in Overwatch and then roll the two Stompamob's up on side of the Warband. The 'Sooweecide Skwad' worked quite well I believe: I used them to take the bite out of my opponents armies and will describe their brave actions in the following reps!
GAME 1: Enri's Blood Angels-DEATH COMPANY w/Chaplain[350]
-TACTICAL w/SC and Hunter[475]
-ASSAULT w/Chaplain[300]
-TERMINATOR w/Chaplain[400]
-SCOUT w/SNIPER[200]
-WHIRLWIND w/Hunter[375]
-THUNDERHAWK [200]
-THUNDERBOLTS [150]
-WARHOUND TITAN [275]
-WARHOUND TITAN [275]
Playing against Enri was a real joy and I was happy to be able to get to know one of our newer players. The actual combat in the game turned out to be a bit of a massacre: Enri's unsupported BTS formation was wiped out to a man by the "S-Skwad" in turn 1, both Warhounds went down by turn 2, the scouts were continously picked on, and his terminators were decimated after teleporting in only for the marines to unluckily lose the Initiative roll. We both thought that the orks had it in the bag for an objective win on turn 3 but a few clever moves in the final turn meant the orks were unable to keep hold of the battlefield and, having run out of time, it was declared a VP Win to myself. Well done Enri for pulling out what was essentially a draw against such dire odds!

-LICTOR SWARM [200]
I really must apologise to Dave for spending the first half of most Tourneys calling him 'Mark'! It's just the 'M' in 'Mephiston' that does it! So: Dave; I am - actually - really sorry! I've known you long enough!
The BTS Dominatrix w/2 Heirodule in this list makes for a really hard nut to crack! I used the same setup as I had against previous opponents but didn't require to be quite so careful about my AA cover! Several Assualt Swarms failing to get very far didn't help Dave's Assualt and where he did manage to punch forward the S-Skwad turned up to halt the tide. I made a couple of mistakes in thinking that 1) I could weather a Genestealer Assault on turn 1 (though didn't take too many casualties), and 2) forgetting that you can't break a DC3 Harridan with 3 BM's because it has Gargoyles with it!
Again, both small WE's fell by turn 2 against my Zzap's and the Stompa Mobs took quite a toll but despite trying to knock out his Dominatrix with Crossfire were unable to touch the she beast! Ultimately although being close and, again, thinking the Orks had it in the bag by turn 2, I didn't manage to pay enough attention to the Victory Conditions it turned into a VP Victory for the Orks. Although if we'd have made it to turn 4 I feel it could have been different...Dave?
GAME 3: Alan's Orks-WARBAND + 2 BOYS n Grotz
-WARBAND + 2 BOYS n Grotz
-BIG WARBAND
-BIG WARBAND w/LOTS of upgrades incl Zzap Gun
-BIG BLITZ BRIGADE w/2 Supas

Me and Al play whenever I'm in London and I always enjoy it: Orks V Orks is a real good scrap! Al's current army is a real interesting setup: the Massive Warband is acutally his BTS, not the Stompamob like one might expect and, rather than start in the landa he uses the two smaller warbands to stall on Turn 1 before picking them up towards the end.
I knew this would be a really interesting game and feel I managed to play pretty well :-) However, I Couldn't scratch Al's Supa Stompa to stop it's advance and despite wiping out a fair few of his formations Al managed to keep me at bay! One final chance to Supa Stompa assault both of the accidentaly intermingled Big Warbands on the Bltiz Objective with Mekanized Mob support went through THREE rounds of combat only to have the sheer weight of numbers allow for Al's Boyz to push me back! Al played so well in defense that he didn't even need to assualt with his Landa's: instead one of them just popped down on turn 3 to grab an objective and make sure that the game went to a VP matchup: this time I fared less well and it was Al who managed to win by quite a difference.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
So; all in a I really enjoyed myself at this tournament! I played as solid as I have in quite a while, knew what my mistakes were and felt I could of been in for the running had the first two games gone to turn 4: but being able to win or play quickly enough in the alloted time is something else that I'll have to learn! Look forward to bringing these orks to the next tourney in May :-)
NOTE; I would have had a report with nice pictures...but despite taking my camera leaving it's memory card in the computer didn't aid in creating digital manifestations of the combat! Sorry!
