Had a brain fart, and just had to push it out.

10 weeks before I can start testing Mechanicus lists again, though.

The theme is War Engine heavy, but regular production War Engines of the kind the Adeptus Mechanicus would take on an attacking or explorator mission, rather than the defensive army style found in the Skitarii PDF list.

The list has 24 units, plus 45 configurations of Titan.

That is the sort of AM list I would enjoy putting together. Standard SHT's, Macharius, Praetor, and Crassus. Nice! Chuck in some Forge Knights and some robots- cool.

I will definitely be up for trying this list out in a few months time.

You might need to have a quick look at the Titan configurations though- e.g. Warlord Titan Battle Configuration lists 6 optional weapons but only gives you the option of swapping AML for TLD.

But great start.

Thanks

James

Oops. Fixed that. Messed up the formatting by accident when rearranging the pages.

Maybe we'll be able to test it together when I move north. :)

Cool- look forward to it. Gives me a couple of months to get my Macharius assembled.

I like it. I have something similar stashed away, but for Guard. It makes more sense as AdMech thematically, though.

However, the term decca-century is really awkward. Is it canon, so to speak? If not I would really prefer it to be changed - etymologically it makes no sense. It only gets worse when you speak of half of one; a hemi-decca-century is half a century of ten units? It's not a century then, is it? I could go with the term century refering to a company sized formation, but then the decca should just be dropped.

I'd also personally like to see Stormswords included, but understand the number of new build Stormswords is very low, and for thematic reasons the choice you made is correct.

Hi SG- I remember I liked your suggestion. Can't remember the specifics so not sure how it differs from this idea. Thematically fits better with AM. Can live without Stormswords- they never really appealed to me.

Just played around on Excel to work out a couple of rough army lists- can easily borrow some Titans from my desert AMTL list and borrow some SHT's and flyers from my desert IG list. I was planning on painting some Macharius to match them both anyway. Would need to dig out Skitarii and Robots- which I should have in my bitz box. That means I just need pair Crassus.

My first stab at a 3K army using existing figures is:
2*3 Macharius
1*3 Shadowswords
1*9 Skitarii with 2 Crassus and Tech Lord upgrade
2*4 Imperial Robots & 1 Tech Priest
1*2 Thunderbolts
1* Marauder
1* Battle Configuration Reaver Titan

That lot comes to 2,975 so 25 points to play with. I can sub out Shadowswords for some Baneblades and/or 1*3 Macharius for 1*5 Forge Knights. Overall 9 activations, 5 of which are War Machines, 2 flyers, plus 2 cheapish walkers. What do you reckon?

Cheers

James

On formation names, a century of tanks would be 100 tanks.
So a decca century is meant to mean one tenth of 100... Should it be deci century?
Hemi is intended to mean half that number as Hemi means half, so 5 tanks.

Even in the old Roman Legions a Century wasn't 100 men anymore. It was some 80 men.
It's just a name not an indicator of how many units/men a formation has.

Bu tif you want to klnow:
10 men = 1 Contubernium
100 men (later 80 men) = 1 Centuria (Century)
2 Centuriae = 1 Manipulus (Maniple)
3 Manipula = 1 Cohors (Cohort)
10 Cohortes = 1 Legio (Legion)

I imagine that you have restricted the weapon choices for Titans to reduce the number of options to make it easier to balance and avoid too much focus on Titans (as opposed to main AMTL list). One request for Battle Configuration Warhound Titan though.

Would you consider making the Vulcan Megabolter as automatic choice and the Plasma Blastgun as 0-1 choice? i.e. reverse of what you have now. VMB and PBG is great combo- likewise VMB and IC. However PBG and IC is nt such a great choice.

Can't comment on Reaver and Warlord Battle Configurations unless know the swap-outs.

Cheers

James

Hi BL- the terms Century, Maniple and Cohort certainly sound cool. But would be difficult to reflect the latter two in terms of size.

Maybe for simplicity we should simply use the term Century for the company size formations i.e. Tanks, heavy Tanks and Super Heavy Tanks. That would mean that we just need a descriptive term for the smaller platoon/squadron sized formations such as Artillery, Forge Knights, Robots and Heavy Artillery.

Cheers

James

Rather than using names "Tankhunter" and "Battle" configurations for Warhounds, is there any mileage in using some of the old names? More for flavour reasons than anything.

e.g. Wolf for TLD + PBG, Mastiff for VMB + PGB, Jackal for VMB + IG.

Cheers

James
