I like the cog/gear look, I think it should certainly have two or more "tracks" or moving surfaces that interact with the grounds as this will allow it to turn etc. (what - don't try and make this sensible)

4-5cm should be tall enough IMO. Whilst warhounds might be taller, the deathwheel it should have greater mass than a typical titan/walker for its height, therefore it doesn't need to be taller than a DC3 walker because it is a more compact and tougher design.

30min sketch:

inner teeth needed, gears need bevelling

all flat surfaces need steampunk inlays and bolt detailing.

Possibly a 3 piece cast. miniumum.
autocannons might be a bit undersized - 0.5mm diamtere barrells ;)

Love where the inside gear work is headed, less keen on the outside 'wheel' – teeth too big.

Hmm a Biwheel with the wheels so narrow beside each other that it looks like a single wheel.
I like neals sketch. Reminds me of a coiled up woodlouse http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porcellio_scaber
Image just with clockwork inside and weapon hardpoints at each side with the same organic looking gun-shields.

To be honest im not a fan of the deathwheel design as it is, I dont do cad so cant submit my idea for the design i would choose,

May do a drawing and see if it would photograph ::)

Basically a sort of mk1 lr thats squashed ! Two tracks running the perimeter of the unit, small gap in between where the operator can see through, weapons like the lr hanging over the side, think modern lr thats been squashed and made round!

But pictures paint a thousand works and all that ;)

Regards epic

Ah I was going to submit a concept months ago wasnt I :)

Well i got time to make one this arvo, here it is. The majority is just thrown together to test shapes and placement but this is very much something like what I was thinking. I'd need some nicer turret, 'wing', cockpit and track designs. The back i want to borrow design elements from the bloodcrusher and much of the rest from the fighters, perhaps would borrow turret ideas from the shoulders of the new fw decimator.

Looks really great
I like the idea that the cockpit drives the wheel

Actually manages not to look goofy, which is high praise for a Deathwheel :)

Perhaps hang a largish flat dish or sphere on the underside of the cockpit (the design needs a heavy-duty stabilizing gyro to stay upright, after all)? It could also serve as mountpoint for guns.

:D

yeah i'll put some thought into weapon mounts and shapes and things this weekend, i forgot to email myself the model file from work so i will have to pick it up again next week. With a bit of tweaking (And making it into something that could sensibly be produced) It may be a good design. I also want to make the 'suspension' holding the fuselage in place look like it could lean left and right. I had forgotten the exact weapon config when I made that too so i will think about proper guns etc.

Wow this looks really good! :D
Any chance to see the weapon-"wings" horizontally instead?
And it needs this chained barrel in the back of the cockpit which all FW daemon engines seem to get. Some kind of mechanical/dameonic head instead of this aircraft cpockpit thingy would be more proper perhabs.
All the armourplates could look more curved as FW's Brass Scorpion.

yeah i was thinking to have the back engine cover with curved armour plates, some smokestacks popping up like the back of the FW decimator out of there, and I am thinking to have the battlecannons look a bit like the defiler with a daemon plate, ie perhaps the battle cannons are the daemon posessed parts. In two minds about giving it a daemon hed in place of a cockpit- I have something else in mind, a kind of robot daemon head, slightly necronish, a bit like the business end of the metal millipede thing, but in daemon engine styling. A bit like the front of the blight drone if it was not so nurglish.

Sounds good :)

How about spliting the wheel tracks in two and puting the plates in a 120° to each other?
The "wings" could actually look the same as the Brass Scoprion's claws. Just with Battlecannons and Reaper Cannons protruding from it instead.

Fattdex's design looks great! Though it looks like something that would be motorcycle-sized. I'm not sure what the solution is to that... Maybe filling in the gaps? If it has empty spaces then a reasonable designer would just make the whole thing smaller.
