I'm creating a poll to see what everyone thinks about removing the Russes entirely from the skitarii list. Please vote as well as explain your reasoning. This poll will last for 14 days.

No. While I understand the wish to differentiate the Skittles from IG, there is no reason to believe they have an entirely different supply chain, and every reason to believe they share at least some basic vehicles. Restricting the Russ to an Executioner variant makes it different enough from normal Guard lists for our purposes.

I say it needs to go in an ad mech tank list because the skitarii list is ridiculously over-stuffed with units, having many more unit types than any other Epic army list.

But, the poll just asks whether it should be removed entirely so of course the vote will be to keep the bloat.

Removing every last vestige of IG from the list will mean fewer playtesters than it currently has. Which is few enough. Your definition of a unit is also different than mine. Minorus and Majorus are each one unit. They have several options each, but those options can be internally balanced against each other (and indeed largely have been in the ATML list), leaving only the chassis to be balanced internally in the Skitarii list and externally.

Your definition allows the most option packed army list in the entire game (by a large margin) to pretend it has less options than the steel legion army list. It's a neat dodge, but a dodge all the same.

I dunno E&C - they have the same resilience, same movement and becuase of that will nearly always perform the same role.

It's same in the stygians - you might be shooting at marginally different targets, but you still be moving slowly and shooting.

Options could always be cut down by creating fixed minorus configurations and limiting the majoris to the special weapons sets... however, while I agree that the skitarii has the most options available to the list I don't think option necessarily equates new unit.... however, let's move this back to the draft discussions thread.

I voted remove, the skitarii list IMO should be a collection of esoteric AM war machines and have its own unique look. they shouldn't look like IG

i voted keep, becuase i think there's room for the rarer leman russ variants to live in the list.

definitely not the classic russ though, and definetly not a pure russ formation.

Keep some limited form of russ, ditch the Machs. Russ is older, more established, tech. If people want to proxy them with crazy Ad Mech creations they are free to do so – personally i was going to use space hulk CATs for my skiti russ.
