um epic, do you know the idea behind the reprap project?
It\'s an open source free replicating printer, not a company. Software is freeware, parts are creative commons, stl files are all shared and the design is a slowly improving work in progress. bit like the NetEA ect.
Basically it\'s a 3d printer that can print most of itself. The cost of the course seems to be largely getting shown how to build one by the some of the original creators - bit like spending a weekend doing list creation with Jervis

- there are much cheaper ways to get one.
Quality wise I agree, they simply can\'t (and I\'m not sure can, generally) do the 6mm scale stuff we want here.
But i don\'t spend all my time here, and being able to fab larger parts for other things would be quite handy. Also, like I said, the cutting edge is getting sharper - the top level seems to be smooth to about 100microns, which is what we need.
