Irregardless of any errors, I’m sure you still could of understood those posts with bad grammar. For all intensive purposes, they get the point across; you’re just diluting yourself that it matters so much. Your not going to win the pullet surprise for an internet post!

Anyways, I could care less about the errors. It is beyond my apprehension that people will literally blow a gasket over this stuff.

As a professional editor working on health and policy documents, I see some awful grammar, but by far the worst examples come from my other job: Professor of English lit. Imagine, if you will, an essay without any possessives, or one that uses commas randomly (and I do mean randomly; no example was the same), or (and this is not really grammar), a 10 page essay with 4 paragraphs...in total.

I am certain that, if you listen carefully, you can hear my screams of anguish as I mark another batch of first year essays. Speaking of which, only 60 more to go....

Dammit. I hadn't seen that one. That's one of the other things that makes me fume! That post just keeps giving!

I suggest "Non Campus Mentus", a book of history harvested from college papers, for some excellent examples of this. I can't seem to find my copy to get the author.

I remember that! It inspired me as I started marking. In his case, though, it is less about grammar than the stupid things students say. I can share some, if you like:

"Since the beginning of time, Men have attempted to lure women back to their adulterer's caves with smiles, lies, and condoms."
"Poetry has been written for at least 80 years. The most famous poet is Shakespeare, who is also famous for his musicals."
"The most famous love story of all time is Romeo and Juliet, except for The Notebook" (note, this was on an essay about neither text).

There are more. I save them. =)

That's not stupid. That's brilliant.
