I have seen quite a few posts of people having 6mm infantry sculpted and i was wondering what the costs are?

Also, is there an opportunity for retailers of 6mm models to help in this and add models to their range that have the sculpting and mold costs partly funded by an outside party?

ie:

Mango says to company X "I would like to get 5 different hoobalahs made"
Company X says "normal cost of getting 5 hoobalahs sculpted and mastered is 1000 sheckles, but if you allow us to sell hoobalahs then we are willing to go 50/50 in the setup costs and we will sell you an initial batch of hoobalahs at cost price"

EW is always interested in new ideas and if they are grand ideas then we wouldn't ask to go 50/50. We'd just do it.

A good portion of our range is because EW fans have requested it.

My costs are up to about £400 per mould these days. I don't have to pay a sculptor, at least. :-)

£400 per mould jeez it must take sometime to recoup costs. Thats a large outlay man.

My plan is not to recoup the cost at all, because you can't. However, if I take the view that I am going to spend X amount of dollars per month or year on hobby stuff, then why not spent it on making stuff for everyone.

The economics get even worse if you add in the value of the time spent working on the original model.

Exactly. There is personal satisfaction of 'giving' to the community, noone wants to pour $$$ down the drain and so you would try and recoup some of the costs but getting something printed/made that the community enjoys and can use is very enjoyable



Yeah, dont try and work out labour, jus chalk it up to 'solo gaming time'

that cost it's just for the mould Ben? or it's for prototyping include? my molder make is price, not at the mold, but at the number of casting...
there are a little number of professionnal molder arround the world, this probably explain, that the cost may vary than that...

It does sound expensive Ben - I've just had a master mould done for 12 28mm metal figures, and it was about £60.... or are you including costs for bronzes?
