I was looking through the Draft Net EA Army List Compendium. I noticed that there were 3 Blood Axe lists:

Developmental Army Lists
7.4 Blood Axe Kommandant Ug Skragga Morkrump’s Korps 133
7.5 Kolonel Rommelz’s Blood Axe Mercenary Ork Warhorde 136

Experimental Army Lists
7.10 Kolonel Sandork’s Blood Axe Clan 149

Why are there 3 separate Blood Axe lists? What is the point of them? As in what do they accomplish that other lists don't? Would we better served by concentrating on one (at least initially)?

Cheers

James

The Kolonel Sandork's list is going into E&C's titan supplement; it's either based closely on, or identical to, the Blood Axe Kommandant army that Nealhunt wrote.

Closely based on. Main difference is kommandos instead of boyz in warbands. Playtests appreciated.

Does that mean that those 2 lists should be consolidated into one list for simplicity?

Same reason there's the Judean People's Front, the People's Front of Judea, the Judean Popular People's Front, the Campaign for a Free Galilee, and the Popular Front of Judea?

"Splitter!".

Lol if Neal wanted to combine lists and take over te combined list I'd be most happy. There are a number of changes and additions in my list version that have a lot of merit (we've discussed both lists in email).

That would be great- certainly simplify things- my view is that should only have variant lists if they add something. Having one Approved Blood Axe lists would be far better than having 3 Developmental/Experimental lists.

Cheers

Cool. For the moment for me, playtesting would involve playing with myself. So concentrating on painting stuff up ready for when i have opponents locally.

Chroma's "Rommelz" list is old-skool Orky-ness, with straight up imperial vehicles and randomized effects.

Sandork's and USMK are in line with the EA design ethos of "orkified" stuff fitting into broad categories.

I'm okay with combining the latter two, but I haven't put any serious thought into it past the conceptual discussions with E&C. I ran into a lack-of-playtest wall after the last USMK version and basically set it aside until such time as interest was revived (as everything goes in cycles of popularity). I'll poke at it a bit.

Thanks neal- reckon you would have more chance of more active playtests if Sandork's and USMK were consolidated into one.

If you do would you ever consider putting the looted imperial vehicles as options?

Thanks

James

I'm pretty hesitant about having an entire roster of looted vehicles. I think I'd rather have separate "normal" and "old skool" lists like described.

If they don't have any special abilities, like a looted Leman Russ that just has firepower, there is not very much benefit to having an imperial weapon stat line. If they do have special abilities, then those abilities tend to not be very ork-like. I understand the "on paper" feel, but I think a separate list specifically to scratch that itch will work better than trying to combine the different list styles into one.

Fair enough- I was just looking to have a bit of play with a mixture of Ork vehicles, looted Imperial vehicles, and some conversions, plus Kommandoes and stormboyz. I guess I can always do that but just use them to count as battlewagons and gunwagons etc.

Thanks

James

IIRC Neal and my opinions were pretty much the same when we emailed. IIRC he liked most of my proposed changes.

The only major-ish point of contention I remember was that I thought the warband formation should be 6 kommandos, 2 nobs, and 2 grots, while Neal thought it should be the same but without any Grots.
