so, cancon is just around the corner
and i need an army available for the day1 big titan stompathon
so here we go, the WIPs of my gargant list

First, we have my ZZapp-Gargant. 2 super-Zzapp-guns and Grot Megamissile
ImageImage
first one, and the only one successfully rivitted up. i am tempted to give him a jaw, but i kinda like the exposed eye-sensors on this one. great big capacitors, cause two zzappguns take up a lot of power

Secondly, my Dakka-Gargant. 2 Gattling Kannons and a Soopagun
ImageImage
another single eye one. i quite like the gatting kannons on this one

thirdly, my Soopa-gargant. 3 Soopaguns
ImageImage
not hugely happy with this one honestly

and last of all, my Choppa-Gargant. 2 Choppas and Transport (for speed)
ImageImageImage
if revisions are made to the gargantlist in time (fingers crossed) this will be my Supreme Commander (probably the worst possible place for him in the army, given how specialised it will be, plus it'll be my BTS aswell, but it seemed the orky thing to do)
i think he's my favourite of the lot so far

still gotta make another 3 atleast (a dual megalobba gargant, another zzapp-gargant, and a soopa-choppa gargant, plus perhaps another gattling gargant and/or another zzapp-gargant) and i'm unlikely to stop there (but with the tourney fast approaching, that might be the point at which i stop and put some paint on the fellas)
waiting on some bits to arrive to make some stuff from. plus i've gotta rivet everything up and stick a few bits of armour and/or glyphs on them too

Those Red Blok minis are great bases for Gargants. Good job on those.

They look great, can we have a comparison pic to show their size?

hey guys
sorry, i totally forgot to take a comparison shot. but there are some tinbots, so thats something i guess. i'll take some once its painted up i'm sure

in the meantime, here are the rest of the guys that will be going to cancon to kick some heads in the engine war

first up, we have the MegaLobba MegaLobba Soopagun gargant.
ImageImage
Dishing out a tremendous 8+2d3 BP a turn, his job is to break warhounds and superheavies, strip shields, and generally look badass.

next up, we have a second dual ZZappgun Grot Megamissile gargant
ImageImage
dedicated warengine hunter

and a second Double Choppa Transport gargant
ImageImage
again, rush the enemy, kill things with its claws. this one isnt the Supreme Commander, so its radar dish is much smaller

speaking of the supreme commander, he's gotten a bit of a makeover.
Image
these are the bases i am thinking i'll use (mainly cause i have a bunch of them at hand and the right size for the big guys, not because they're particularly orky)
Image
also shown are the tinbots i'll be using as Killa Kans until i can find a way to get the blue moon walkers i intend to use without shelling out $60 in shipping :(

lastly, a Work In Progress.
i'm not sure if i like this one, so its been shelved for now
Image
that'd be dual soopaguns, a gattling kannon, and a weirdboy tower (or ackack mount)
the gattling looks cool, but its a bit too big for the rest of the model, and i'm not too keen on the face. so this one will be sitting out cancon, and maybe getting a workout when the rest of my bits arrive and i make another batch of them

so i'm at my next dilemma, and hopefully you fellows can help me out with it. i'm trying to decide how to paint them
originally, my plan was to paint them as goffs, so primarily black and metal, with white dags and checks (using the fighting pirahna decals for the checks) but i havent heard anything back from them and with the tournament in 5 days, i dont expect to. i do have some GW decals with checks and dags on them, so the plan is still a go-er

except, where do i put them? the plates have got rivets on them for the most part, and one or two bits of checkeredness will look weird on a model this size.

so i'm not sure. maybe i should try a different scheme. bad moons or evil sunz (though they dont seem particularly evil sunsy to me, even with their big engines)

what i'll probably end up doing, is paint them as goffs, and leave off the white detailing until after the convention. unless you guys have any bright ideas. time is running out (i have, as i mentioned, 5 days, and some of that time will be spent on scenery-making and finishing the trophies)

will i make it in time? stay tuned ork-fans, there's still more stomping to be had...

very cool and cost effective! but one thing I gota say is that they are way too semetrical to be orks! I think some missing parts would go a long way to making them look more like orks built them. like just a armour plate or two gone and some piping showing or some thing. maybe a few holes blown into the armour. ;D

to be fair, the reason they look symmetrical is they have weapon loadouts configured to specific purposes, which means "two of the same gun" and thus, symmetry.
in the works i had two non-mirrored gargants. one soopasoopachoppa, and one soopachoppazzapp, but i wasnt happy with the soopagun i had for the arm (it looks awesome, but its a little weedy looking, especially compared to the beefy choppa-arm) so i left them out and made the second double-choppa guy. i'll get back to them once my next set of bits arrive, and presumably begin agonizing over the gunsize all over again

as to armoured plates missing, i wanted to avoid that for two reasons. one, its tricky to do at this scale, and two, i want the army to have a fairly freshly minted/looted feel to it

What about extra armor riveted over the existing structure? That would have the same effect of creating asymmetry and making them slightly more Orky.

Good looking stuff! I agree with above. The base mini that you used is nice and chunky, but it doesnt match the stompas at the moment. First it looks too clean. I Too think it would look even better with assymetrical plating and riveting applied liberally. Another thing is that it looks out of scale. Many large 40K pieces add to that. Maybe this will go away with an in scale paintjob, though. Looking forward to seeing it finished!
