I'd definitely prefer a more informal "fix 'em when you find 'em" approach, but this is better than just sitting on it for a year.

I'd still recommend that if any serious errors are found during a lock down period they should be fixed ASAP.

could we have file as an open document, free for anyone to edit?

track changes of course. I hear it's quite a popualr method for repositries of knowledge.

The Compendium is supposed to provide a snap shot of lists so that players and TO's can go to one place to get lists for general and tournament play. As such it should really be relatively static, typos excepted. Stat errors need fixing, grammar and spelling can wait a bit imo.

If your looking for the latest changes to playtest the relevant section of the forum is the place to go.

I was thinking more that typo hunting could be shared, but yeah, you'd get people 'correcting' the lists to the latest version. never mind.

These are the minimums, E&C. I am sure if somebody has time, they'll fix it. The community should simply not have expectations beyond the schedule.

The typo thread should be able to serve as the change-doc, that's where they'll be pulled from anyway.

The corrections need to be laid out clearly. If you post after each update what is corrected, you may as well make a pdf; it's only two minutes of work. Simply using the typo thread as a change doc won't do unless you explain what has actually been fixed. Once you lay that out you have a change doc anyway, and may as well make it a file instead of a thread.

Can I ask why it's necessary? At this point we're sifting through the thread, finding the changes and making them. Beyond that you want us to start a different document explaining what they were?

Because there are already complaints that things that were reported at the draft stage weren't corrected. I'm not going to reproof the entire document because no one is willing to simply jot down what has changed - it makes the whole excercise a waste of time.

Double post, but that sounded harsh. I understand things get missed, but if you have a physical list of what has changed, it's easier to go through the thread and say, "whoops, missed that"

You shouldn't feel compelled to proof the whole thing, no one should. Proofing the lists that you play, develop or AC should be enough. If anything you'd only need to traverse the typo thread and double check each of those.

I tried my best to get all the errors, obviously I missed some after having to work around the posts that were more discussion then typo correction. A change doc only seems like busy work, given that the thread already exists.

But if you put out a doc, then I or any other forum member can "check your work" so to speak, simply by pinting the doc and checking it against the thread. No one's perfect and a change doc allows a degree of redundancy in the system. It also allows you to specifically state which pages need reprinting - without anyone having to figure it out from the thread. It's more work for the proofer (in this case you), but it should allow a better final product IMO.

Dave: Your whole argument was that people shouldn't have to print it out then find out it's out of date. If there's a changedoc people can print it out then make typo changes by hand.

Most list developers maintain a changedoc for their army list, it only makes sense to do the same here.

Again, if the netERC aren't willing to put the time in to make a changedoc, I'm sure plenty of other people will volunteer to do so. It's not like you even need a document; whenever you update the compendium add a new post to the thread saying what changes have been made.
